I know it is a step down for Murph, but this show would be perfect for him. The guy watches every pitch of every game(Cubs and Sox) when possible and does know the game. Get him there with a Shuster and let it flow. Zach isn't getting done and let him work the Bears, it is what he does well.

That is probably a good move. I would let Larry do the bears again and get rid of ZZ altogether.

How long is Murph under contract? Is he a North guy enough that he would move on to the Webio? I would like him on hit and run as well, though I think Schuster or Zach will kill him three weeks into it.

For some reason I thought Murph got renewed a few months ago. But I don't know for certain. Personally I think a pre game show on WGN with Memolo would be fun.

I think "Murph" signed a two-year extension with the SCORE. Since "Murph" is such a big baseball fan, and "Hit & Run" has technically lacked a host since George Ofman & Jesse Rogers joined ChicagoSportsWebio.com, here's an idea. "Murph" & Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch take over as hosts of "Hit & Run" Sunday mornings on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. Both guys are big baseball fans. With "Murph", you get the Cub angle, while "Whip" is a big White Sox fan and season ticket holder, based on what I've heard. Besides, it sounds like "Murph" & "Whip" actually get along...

Thanks, Shark. I was thinking he got the renewal 2 months ago, and then was thinking 2 years, ... and that was too many "twos" for me to be certain. So I held off on that part.

But anyway, don't know terms of contract. Might spell out the time slot; might be applicable to any time slot they choose to schedule him to. Dunno. Rosen made it sound like Murph has choices in matter. Maybe they don't want to pay mid-day rates for 6-10 slot. Am not an insider, so will sit back and see how this works out.

It may be a contract where the station has the right to use him any way they want, or the contract won't be paid. I believe this happened to Memolo - when the Score moved him off full time, they used him on late Fridays, etc - and Memolo was stuck if we still wanted paycheck. My guess Murph is in the same place -

I like Shark's idea of pairing Murph and Paruch for Hit & Run and maybe even make it a 2x on weekdays + Saturday and Sunday baseball only show during the season, scaling it back to 2x/wk in the offseason. I can listen to as much John Devean as they can get.

Just dump him and improve morale.

This show is absolutely terrible. The sports whisperer is fucking clueless about baseball. Does this goof do any preparation at all?? I started typing him an email but he kept talking and I couldn't keep up with his nonsense. I still can't believe Rosen didn't use the departure of George and Jessie as an opportunity to get a respected baseball voice on this show.

Even though I'm not a Mike Murphy fan by any means, "Hit & Run" is the kind of sports talk radio show that would fit him like a glove. Zach Zaidman is really good covering the Chicago Bears for not only 670 The SCORE but the team's flagship station, WBBM Newsradio 780. It's time SCORE Program Director Mitch Rosen gives ZZ the hook and signals for "Murph" & Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch to take over a show that's rapidly losing its fastball in a hurry since George Ofman & Jesse Rogers left.

Yeah, good idea. Too bad Murph doesn't know shit about baseball, which is the one sport he's supposed to know something about. How can someone have watched that much baseball in his life & be so ignorant? He has ever read anything about baseball other than biographies, team histories, the work of beat writers, or columnists? The Cubs don't fail every year b/c of the fucking 3rd base coach. Or b/c Ed Lynch is on the payroll.

Yes, it was announced on the Mac show this morning. Spiegel and Schuster, if I heard correctly.

I like the Meatpants addition to hit and run. Pretty much unlistenable with the bear whisperer.

I think it's going to be a good listen.

Hit and Miss.I don'care about Meatheads thoughts on the Futures Game, All-Star Game, or him having lunch with Mel Allen. He is annoying as Bob Sirott.
