... did that 2nd caller say that was obviously, quickly chopped-out? ... was with the King of the MM-ALS that followed him? (circa 1:08pm) |

I'm listening online, so I don't know if this made the air or not, but... Some guy called up and asked Murph if he could ask a question. A nervous Murph said he could. The guy then asked if Murph had another gig lined up (paraphrasing). I don't remember Murph's answer, but he asked who the guy's Tool nominee was. The guy then responded, "You, Murph, because your show sucks." Murph then muttered something about being on a beach next week, thinking about THAT call. There you have it. |

That's awesome, I wish I heard that. BTW, is Murph really going to be on a beach next week or is that just the fashionable thing to say when you get canned? And if he is, is it Montrose or Oak Street? |

I rarely listened to Murph during mid-days because of the time slot, but I did today because I wanted to see/hear if there was going to be a meltdown a la that dude in the movie "Network" ("I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore.") I know this criticism has been made before, but seriously, Murph's under-his-breath mutterings while someone else is talking are beyond annoying. It was even more evident today while listening to what I assume is a stereo broadcast over the web. Any time his guest said something, Murph was like, "Mmmm...hmmm" and he did it A LOT!!! It's dirt on the grave at this point, but I feel better. Eff Murph. |

Ed ... dig the post ... but it's the internetz, and we're not under the FCCs thumb (for now) ... one is allowed to actually say "Fuck", especially when it's the phrase "Fuck Murph" ... 1st edit: Also, just because I can --- I fucking hate Brown's Chicken - even if it's free. My bro loves their hush puppies (and claims he was a murph caller of the show ... I'm so ashamed <bag over head>); I wouldn't use those things to whip at Murph's face for nickels on stage. And, as I've said before, I'm a blimp. 2nd edit: I have to apologize ... I enjoyed the shit out of the string of drops to close the show for good. 3rd edit: Speaking of 'for good', can we get this section put into the 'Media Graveyard' quickly to help celebrate the occasion?!?!?!? |

Mmmmmm hmmmmm. Mmmmmmm hmmmmm. That reminds me of a movie scene where where a radio dj is not listening to someone and all he said was that until he realized that the interviewee was talking inappropriately. What was that movie? I want to think it was maybe Airheads? Murhph is so cool that he is going to be on a beach next week. Maybe he is going to be selling hair braids or a parasailing salesman in Cancun. Good riddance. |

I wish Murph good luck wherever he ends up. He was passionate about his job, even if (at times) it seemed a bit 'out there'. That taped montage at the end was not the way I envisioned things ending for Murph at the Score. |

Fair enough ... your moniker confuses me - I keep seeing "Ed Leslie" ... which reminds me, I need a haircut before I go paragliding. |

The sound quality of the Ed Lynch/Beach Boys parody was terrible online, which again, I think is broadcast in stereo. It was all garbled and lower volume than the rest of the show. I can only imagine how crappy it sounded via AM radio. What an idiot. Way to go out on a high note, Murph. |

That was one of the most awkward and uncomfortable endings to a radio show I have heard. Murph's seemingly lack of willingness to talk about leaving/ending the show was pathetic. At least acknowledge what is happening around you. Not even as much as a, "thanks, and good bye." Pud. Good riddance. The daily lineup on the SCORE just got listenable from start to finish. Not having to listed to Hampton and Murphy on 670 anymore just made my Chicago sports radio day. Don't let the door hit ya in the ass, Murph... |

Yeah, not a big Murph fan myself but that was a pretty cool way to end things. Yes, because it illustrated the man's lack of professionalism. I forgot about his calling Walter Payton "Wally." I forgot how he wore the hell out of that handful of drops about Dusty Baker and Jim Hendry and Andy "M-c-F-a-i-l." The only sound drop I'll miss hearing regularly is the "Quite frankly, this is starting to piss me off." Now, Boers showed his lack of professionalism with the "This is a great day in Chicago sports broadcasting" every time he can this afternoon; but what else would you expect out of him? Goodbye Murph. Your hatred of all things NOT related to the Cubs did you in finally. Silvy might drive me nuts from time to time with his man-crush on DeRosa and his "love me some...." routine; but at least he can give credit where credit is due. You wasted your last day on the air asking the fans "Just fans talking to fans" if Jim Thome, a guy who should go to the Hall of Fame, if he's a ballplayer OR a DH. What compelling radio, no wonder Silvy and Waddle kicked your ass to the curb. My problems with Murph has always been (and is the same with any guy who is so damn blinded with his views) that if you don't agree with him, its immediately 'insult you, and the Sox' in the same freakin' breath. At least Bernsie will call you a name, versus "Musta been a Sox fan' like that's supposed to be insulting. Yep Murph, darn proud of being a Sox fan. You and your bugle playin', 'rememberin' when the stands were mostly empty' ass finally got what it deserved. A kick out the door. |

Good stuff, Frontman. He definitely muttered something to the effect of "real baseball, National League baseball" in the Thome as DH or "ballplayer" discussion. Unfortunate that after all these years he couldn't find a way to translate his love for the Cubs to a love of the game, period. |

But if someone droned on and on and on about the Sox; I'd get sick of them too. Especially if its early December; the Bears might be in the playoff hunt, I certainly wouldn't want to hear how back 7 years ago that Kenny Williams did something stupid, or a sound drop saying "And Ed Farmer is still on the Sox payroll!!!" |
