Post subject: | The Mike North Story - THE MOVIE/Mini Series - CASTING CALL! |
I was one of those guys who sat by a radio, way back when, to listen to the moment that ole Tom Shaer fired up the station back in the 820 days of 1992 - a SPORTS radio station! I really loved every show, as each was unique - and, one of the most unique, was The Monsters - North and Jiggets. Obviously I hadn't ever heard of North, and Jiggets I barely recalled as being a big dude that drew quite a few penalties during his time with The Beloved. Their show was very different, and very enjoyable. There weren't podcasts back then, so you always wanted to be around to listen to the show live. As the years went on, and North's head grew larger and larger, I too grew tired of his schtick. From the blowing up of the station lineup, to his own show, to pairing up with various people ... I pretty much checked out of anything he was involved with. While early on he was excellent at f'ing things out (like his whole Connie Francis hard-on), he gradually made it an art form and spun out into areas where he came across as the true meatball he is. What once made him endearing had suddenly made him unlistenable. ALL of that said, there is no doubt that the guy (good or bad) has the energy to create drama and get people talking. From his park district days to the Army to the hot dog stand to his early sports talk/Score days to getting a fat paycheck to a gambling site to a web-based radio station that ended up being financed by a scumbag, it makes for quite the story. To me, as an outsider, it almost seems comical/not real. But, incredibly, the dude is now at the point where he got in bed with a slimebag and will now have to answer to the Feds and, ironically, probably have to rat his "guy" out. The guy is clever at times, but he has NEVER proven to be a smart guy by any means ... and him getting his head out over his skiis is now biting him in his pasty butt. I would love to see, at least, a Lifetime docudrama played out about his whole life. No spin, though, from North - just the facts. I have zero doubt that most, not familiar with North, would watch this and pony it up to crappy writing ... despite it being true. God damn Mike North, you really have had one rollercoaster of a life dude. It's too bad that you were the one responsible for it heading back down the hill. CASTING CALL - I'm assembling the talent as we speak, and once we nail down each role we'll float some offers out there. I will update this first post as we find suitable actors, here is what we have so far: played by played by played by ? Huebs played by Buscemi Jigs played by Eddie, as Klump Jesse played by Chiklis played by played by Mrs. Nort played by Wendie Malick Ron Gleason played by Bob Odenkirk The Grobber played by the legendary Moranis Daaaan MaNeaaaaaa played by Tom Cable Uncle Terry played by Willie Lil Danny Bernstein played by the original Grinder (just because) Goff played by Anthony Anderson drinky Abattacola played by Schwimmer Ranger Rongey played by Fred Savage Webby played by Michael Cera J Hood played by Kenan Thompson Shorty George played by Goose Memolo played by Brit played by Tribune reporter Ameet played by, ironically, Tom Shaer Chicago Media Asslicker Larz played by ................................. |

Just wanted to confirm that I do, indeed, have the rights to this story. I'm already casting, and agree with some others input; I've updated the first post in this thread with the actors we need to wrangle to play the key roles in this dramatic film. |

Score is doomed wrote: Who will play Fluffy, er I mean Jen? Resurrect Chris Farley and have him as the Gap Girl from the SNL sketch play her. Clay Aiken to play Jesse Rogers. And no way Al Bundy would play Mike North. Ed ONeil is awesome, no way he come across as that tool. Im thinking more like Bruce Villanch as Mike North. |

If it does make the big screen and Edwards plays George, I hope that one of the Hollywood writers makes him a transvestite vampire. |

Put a mustache and receeding hairline afro on Michael Clarke Duncan, and he could play Jiggs. As I mentioned in another thread, Jen would be played by Reese Witherspoon in her role in Legally Blonde. Jesse Rogers would be played by Terry Kinney aka Tim McManus from Oz |
