Since creating new topics is THE thing to do here, anyone hear from Shorty George?

I imagine he is puking into his hat right now.

I'd also like to know what Fritzy and Knuckles role(s) were in all of this...

I'm not a big fan of George but I feel pretty bad for him.

He always seemed to be a professional (other than his biased love for the Cubs and Sammy Sosa - until Sosa turned on Shorty George)

You know Shorty George wasn't going on the air after his checks bounced. Hell, he might be stuck in Detroit!

I'm not sure, but I think he's about the only one that hasn't commented yet ... even behind the scenes guys have spoken/posted/blog'd etc.

Maybe he's taking shelter in a clam?

Musta caught a bad case of the cramps from all those steak dinners he ordered while in Detroit.

I heard from George Ofman this morning. He's as fine as can be considering the circumstances. It cannot be easy for a 36 year radio veteran to suddenly be without work. He's a good man, well liked by his peers and will hopefully land on his feet sooner than later.

This is a very difficult time for all of the CSWebio employees. My heart goes out to those folks, most of whom are quite talented and deserved better than to get the rug yanked out from under them by a thieving bastard named David Hernandez.

So do I, but I hope it's as a reporter who makes regular appearances on the different shows. He did a great job in what I heard on CSWebio.

He is not an excellent baseball guy. He is an excellent update guy and a decent reporter.

He's a solid (not excellent) update guy with nice delivery and a decent reporter.

Has anyone heard from Jen? Spaceball? These have to be the only three "big" players of Webio/MITM that have gone silent, right?

(I'm posting a bunch of pictures as I assume it's only a matter of time until they pull down the MySpace page ;) )

We really don't have anyone in this town I would consider excellent in covering baseball. Some are solid; but there's none that I think understand the game well enough and are passionate about the GAME (not one team over another, thankyouverymuch) enough to be considered "Excellent."

Poor George...not only did his paychecks bounce but his expense checks from the Detroit boondoggles bounced. You can imagine that with all the money flying around there he probably upgraded his accommodations in the Motor City. Maybe a suite, nice limo, a little massage topped off by a happy ending (means you have to double the tip), and a nice steak dinner..boom. Those bills are going to be painful to pay out of your own dwindling bank account. Ouch...boom...ouch! And who does he have to thank...why his Pappy, of course.

Jen has NO idea anything happened. She's just waiting for her own Webio show :)

I have heard, in one form or another, from all three of the people mentioned on this thread. Nobody is happy about the terrible situation, but everybody is alive and well. Not every Webio employee feels the need to do non-stop interviews and blogs. Some of them, these three in particular, prefer their privacy. Even if all was well at Webio, these three have rarely done personal interviews. Their "no talky" doesn't mean they are angry at anybody or hiding anything. It just means they prefer to keep their private thoughts private.

larz,

Oh, I think "NO TALKY" is a grand idea - and I really respect these three for keeping mum on this whole mess.

I wasn't attempting to call them out or demand that they talk, I was just wondering if they had popped up anywhere yet.

Good on George, Spaceball and Jen for keeping their yaps shut.

We all remember Jen's famous "Rags to Riches" story in the paper. That was touching. Poor suburban cheerleader makes good.

Was that the same interview where she said she left The Score because she didn't like how Mitch told her to use her "cuteness" to get athletes to come on the radio station?

No, I can't stand whiners on radio; thank you very much. When he's not whining, Levine sounds like that uncle everyone has; that pines for the days of his youth when he had the whole world in front of him, but now seems to have realized he hasn't accomplished much, knows it, everyone else knows it, yet still says he's 'the best' just because, well; who do they have him to compare to? Just because he's there and has a pulse he's considered the best baseball "insider" in the biz, even though every other baseball beat reporter reports the same story, just earlier in the day.

And Schuster just always sounds lost; like he's afraid he went to the wrong stadium on the wrong day, never sure what he's covering. Or that he might be a target of a shave cream pie in the face; even though he's not a player. That, or if the Cubs lose, somehow he'd be blamed for the loss, as the curse of the Schust would kick in......

How in the hell did David Schuster & Bruce Levine get jobs in radio???

Generally I like Schuster, but during his report from Wrigley today, he said something like "3rd inning and this game is basically over" wth the Cubs down 6-0. Inasmuch as the Cubs came down from four runs down in the 8th inning the day before, is it wise to deem the game over in the 3rd? That and it just sounds pissy.

Exactly. Now, if it was going into the 9th and said that, score 6-0; he might be right. But in the 3rd, no game is over. Even a lead like that.
