Forgive my ignorance, and perhaps I'm overlooking the obvious, but why would Hernandez bother starting and funding (for a time) CSW in the first place?

Money laundering?

Also, if the money he invested in the webio was "stolen" from other "investors," can those "investors" come after webio employees for their money?

Yes, that's why a lot of people (including Bernsie today) suggested that anyone with webio should stop talking about the goings on, a least from a financial standpoint.

I'm not the expert on running a Ponzi scheme, but it sounds like he wanted the radio station as a way of showing future investors that the parent company had legitimacy. He could get even more investments if he was able to show people that his companies are doing so well he was able to buy a big time radio station with name talent from.

This.

Plus, once he got caught, hes got a bunch of ppl who can pay off his spendatures, thats why he told Nort he wanted big name talent.

Once hes caught, he can tell the feds he gace all this money to all these ppl.

If I was Nort id be worried. Norts just as big a liar, and keeps talking in the media, hes shooting himself.

Dont think Nort CANT do any time over this, its his word against DH's, and neither are worth a pile of shit.

That's the way I see it. David Hernandez was starting to become a recognizable public name, which gives a sense of legitimacy to some investors. There was a reason he wanted to be interviewed and have his name at the forefront of each of these ventures.

In turn raising more cash in form of debt, building up "webio," claiming insolvency, and compelling the holders of his debt to convert that debt into equity in "webio." effectively, a twisted sick way of doing an IPO.

It didn't hurt that David got to press flesh with the likes of guys like Jerry Reisndorf and Ozzie Guillen. Chet made it sound like David just wanted to feel important and run in the big timer's circles.

Yeah, but remember Chet's bias: he thinks he is or at least was "big time".
