http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ ... 8179.story June 17, 2009 10:51 AM David Hernandez, who disappeared Monday after federal regulators accused him of securities fraud, told one of his former attorneys Wednesday morning that he is staying at a Downers Grove hotel -- but police don't believe his story. Avni Shah, a Chicago lawyer who said her firm has done some transactional work for Hernandez, said she received a call at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Hernandez. He told her was he was in a hotel and that he was "OK," said Shah, who called the Tribune. But Sgt. David Bormann of Downers Grove police said they have not heard from him. When informed of Hernandez's possible whereabouts by the Tribune, Bormann said "We think he's lying about that." He added that the police have been checking the hotels in the western suburb and surrounding area. "He might just be throwing people off," Bormann said. "I doubt he's staying in town." The Securities and Exchange Commission accused Hernandez in a civil complaint Monday of diverting $11 million he raised from investors for a purported pay-day loan business for personal expenses and to fund other ventures, including Chicago Sports Webio. With money from Hernandez, site co-founder Mike North hired Chet Coppock and other radio personalities as hosts, and the station made its debut in April. Shah said she and her colleague Jeremy Bell are not representing Hernandez in the SEC matter. She said that they have been contacted by the SEC. Shah said they had no knowledge of Hernandez's alleged fraud. Corporate records show that Bell registered several of Hernandez's companies, including NextStep Medical Staffing, NextStep Holdings Corp. and Spectrum Entertainment Group Inc., the parent of Chicago Sports Webio.[/quote] |

Is the Tivoli Bowl still in Downers Grove? That's where I'd look. He probably got daunted by the thought of driving to Belize. |

There's a four page thread "Hernandez is Missing". Why not read the last page of that and check if this has been discussed? . . . particularly since there have been so many threads started on this subject. I could understand if it was off the front page, but it's been in the top 5 threads all day. |

Thread starting is just accepted in this section in light of recent events. The bad ones die. If it helps "DONT POST IN THIS THREAD. ALL MISSING HERNANDEZ SHIT SHOULD GO IN THE "HERNANDEZ IS MISSING" THREAD. Thankyou |

HEY! DID YOU GUYS SEE THIS?! I think the Tivoli Bowl is/was beneath the theatre, near the train tracks. Awesome old school bowling alley - maybe 10 lanes - with a bar. You could get Bud/Bud Light bottles in the shape of bowling pins. Maybe 9-10 years ago I bowled the best game of my life there while drunk: a 165. |

If you're running a Ponzi Scheme - you know one day it's going to come to an end, right? It's unsustainable by it's very nature. So wouldn't you be preparing yourself (and maybe your family) to disappear when it starts to unravel? That's the thing that amazes me with guys like Madoff and Hernandez ... they knew it was going to end, why weren't they prepared for it? |

When Law and Order did the madoff thing...they made it seem like he made inquiries go away pretty easily...thought he was bulletproof. I wonder if Law and Order will rip this one from the headlines |

^^that would be awesome and then law and order can setup a staged webio show and the founder can be ikesouth and he gets into cahoots with a puerto rican ricky martinendez and the whole thing ends with the foreigner going to jail and ikesouth claiming international fame from the tv show. |
