That's really what this whole thing comes down to. Plain and simple, North and Coppock thought they had a big fish on the line, a "jock sniffer" who had tons of cash and was going to pay big bucks for the priviledge of hanging out with radio and sports personalities. There's no way they could've honestly thought that an internet radio station could really afford to double the salaries they were getting at a real radio station. Here is exactly how the Gibson's lunch between Coppock and North went down.... Coppock: So this Hernandez guy wants to spend all this money just to open some internet radio station? How can that really work? North: Here's the beauty of it! He's a jock sniffer! He LOVES being in the limelight and loves sports, he's got TONS of money and wants to pay for the privilege of hanging out with us! Coppock: Seriously? This is great. So basically we just go sign with this guy, shake his hand, hang out with him and introduce him to sports figures around the city and we get paid double for that? Thats amazing. North: Yeah, he's loaded. I went to his office, he's got two floors on west washington all to himself, you can smell the mahogony as soon as you get off the elevator! He’s one of these super rich business guys who dreams of getting into sports. He’s like a poor man’s Mark Cuban, but not too poor if you get my drift. Coppock: So he’s like a sports sugar daddy? Wow, this is the break I’ve been looking for my whole life. North: Yeah, its golden! (Blago reference, seems appropriate) We’re gonna be set for life from this guy. That’s pretty much how I see the meeting with North and Coppock going down. A couple of half assed con men thinking they have a mark on the line when all along they were the ones getting fleeced. And now they are running around playing the victim like a couple hypocrites. |

How many different fraudulent schemes has sports talk intoduced us to over the years. We should make a running list: Hernandez Wayne Allen Root International Profit Associates |

Ditka would come on the show by phone too. |

Coppock used to some scam weight-loss ads on WBBM: "Lose Weight While You Sleep" - no, it turned out to be Lose Money While You Sleep. |

What about the commercials with that chick from that 70's show and Huebner for some time share? That sounded extremely shady. |

They'd take your questions on real estate, sports, and any garden or handyman questions you had around your house. The greatest show ever!! I think he still does a show on WLS on Saturday mornings. And that guy was legit. He had condos with DA COATCH in Flordia. DA COATCH just doesn't put his name on anything. |

I think you give North too much credit. Coppock and North are two very vain quasi-celebrities who desperately crave attention. Maybe you're right and they sized up Hernandez as an easy mark who didn't understand the market price of sports talkers, and sought to exploit it. I think it's more likely they ignored Hernandez's numerous red flags and talked themselves into it because of, as aforementioned, their boundless self-regard. Plus, what other options did they have? So we do we have confirmation on the $200K salary for Coppock? That's as much as Mac got offered, which is patently ridiculous given what's transpired over the last 15 years. I assume North made much, much more. |

I don't they looked at DH and said "lets take this guy for everything its worth", it was probably more along the lines of "this jock sniifer wants to give us a boatload of money just to pretty much hang out with us" and the other one replied "of course he does, we're worth every penny of it!". |

You're probably right. Then Hernandez lowered the steak dinner boom. |

Someone called B&B and said Hendry would be able to trade for Peavy by meeting with him face-to-face. Upon being taken out for dinner, Peavy would be convinced to join the Cubs. "Steak dinner, boom." |
