What obligation does anyone have to protect the village idiot, North, from himself? North is in deep in this and all the bullshit going around won't change this fact. His dumbass wife was the COO of a company with very little revenues and high expenses and she's too fucking dumb to question this? North is too stupid to figure this out? His checks don't bounce? WTF. North will be going down and no matter how you spin it, North knew what the whole situation was, he thought he had a sucker to bleed money from. |

It's far more fun to dislike north. He's human garbage, nothing more. I really hope he goes down on this scam. |

Shaer is unlikeable but I don't see how he has any culpability in what happened. North would've told him to "fuck off" and blamed his jealousy. |

SID, any personal encounters or is it an opinion of a distant observer? Just curious. |

Crafty (yet pretty obvious) attempt to divert the attention from what the Hawaiian actually said (acquaintance dating back to 90s) to what he should have (in their opinion) done to prevent the armagedon. Cheap spinmastery. |

if it is true that shaer knew this was going down, and he knowingly allowed a lot of his professional peers to sacrifice their careers on the promises of a man he knew to be a fraud, then he is a douchebag. it has nothing to do with the bad decisions mike and bebe north made. they clearly didnt do their homework. they are paying bigtime for it now. but "they had it coming, so what, let them squirm" is a weak excuse, and everyone who is hanging their hats on that line of thinking is a douchebag too. if you know people are in danger of making enormous mistakes at the hands of a man who has a history of fraud and you say nothing and sit back and enjoy the show, it is pretty fucked up thinking. |

At first, I think I agreed with you, but then I rethought it. Suppose Shaer alerted someone to Hernandez's past and, through a chain reaction of people pulling out, the Webio thing collapsed. Can you imagine what North would have said about Shaer then?! I think Shaer's mistake was running to Sherman yesterday to spill his guts on this. Should have just kept quiet all along. |

I don't know--I really don't. Technically, Hernandez was free and clear of any legal wrongdoing at that point. Before it all happened, we couldn't know for sure what was going to become of this venture. Maybe Shaer was right to just let North figure it out for himself and deal with the consequences. |

There are none so blind as those who will not see. IMO most of the guys affected by this had to have some reservations or concerns but were willing to overlook them for various reasons. North wanted desparately to be big-time again, Webby wanted his own high-paying (for him) gig, Coppock was becoming increasingly irrelevant, Jesse and Shorty-George wanted to be taken seriously,...etc. Nobody wanted to dig deeper for fear that it would reveal more than they wanted to know. I can understand that thought process and don't really blame the younger guys who took a chance to reach their goals when the conventional landscape was looking bleak. I don't really have the same degree of empathy for the Norths since - as upper management and co-founders - they had an obligation to perform due diligence. In that respect I agree with those who have stated that Pappy should stop the media tour as it just makes him look more foolish. |

Several good posts on this issue. I see both sides of the coin, but to me, attacking Shaer is a smokescreen. He didn't have any business to interfere with other people's gig, and I doubt it would have been well received. Money issues are an intensely private thing that most people don't get into unless brought up by the other party. I don't tell my neighbors that can't afford their houses. I don't give them professional advice about their investments. I don't ask their salaries. I don't tell them to change jobs. If asked, I give my opinion. I see many of them making mistakes in these areas (I have a financial background), and I just keep quiet unless asked. Chet should have at least asked around about Dave before getting involved. This is different than my examples because it involves a prior crime, so I wonder what I would have done in Tom's situation. Tough call.... |

North knew. He cut a deal w/ the devil to take on WSCR, not thinking he'd get fucked over. Pappy protests too much about the Shaer issue. The association is circumstantial evidence. North's reaction is telling. |

My opinion on this is Shaer thinks North "knew" about Hernandez all along. "why would I already tell Mike something he already knows?" I think thats why he "threw" the comment about the party in there. We the reader and the reporter reporting it should infer that Mike "already" knew him therefore knew what he was all about. Mike now thinks Shaer is a rat but he still has not addressed the PARTY thing or the MORTGAGE thing. Until he does, he's as guitly as anyone in this whole thing. |

Oh yeah. That's what Shaer was saying. He thinks North knew everything and he probably did. He was known as "banker dave" at the Score in the day. He knew him. So did a lot of those other old Score guys that went to webio. I'm pretty sure of that too. Shaer did nothing wrong. I wouldn't say anything either. This will be another thing where North will look like a fool once it's proven that he knew his past. How will that "If you saw a rape" comment look when you were the one that saw "the rape". North is so used to lying and people buying it. He's disgusting. |

Yeah, I just watched the MITM replay, like somebody said, it sure looks like Nort hasnt slept in a couple days and I highly doubt its because of guys like Hood not getting paid. This whole thing stinks like Nort knows a hell of alot more than hes letting on. Instead of him handing out checks to show compassion, part of me thinks he did it out of a quilty concience. First he said he didnt know this guy before webio, now its proven he got his house thru the guy, had the guy at parties at his house, known him for over a decade, and Shaer WAS THE ONE WATCHING THE RAPE? Fucking dumbass. This guy, in wrestling speak, is a ring rat. Mike Nort, desperate as he was, went to bed with this rat to further his campaign against the Score, and caught a horrible case of professional herpes, getting everybody who followed him the same fucking problem. And he still wont fess up and take any kind of responsibility for it. Hes become a laughing stock in the eyes of more and more each time he opens his mouth, and then new info pops up, take the fucking hint, but he cant help himself. How fucking embarrassing, hes chewing on a straw while his legally fuckheaded wife is talking to the reporter, even that tunnel visioned walking yeast infection can see Nort is killing himself, why cant he? I will bet you money Nort is praying this guy ends up in some drastic situation, so he can re-write the truth into his own version of Nortreality where hes the hero. Just wait, it all starts over in a few hours, even when he says hes done talking. |
