Webio financier coming back to Chicago June 29, 2009 3:41 PM | No Comments Downers Grove financier David Hernandez, who became a fugitive after being accused of running a large Ponzi scheme, is headed back to Chicago to face his criminal case. Hernandez was released from a Downstate hospital over the weekend and made an initial appearance today in federal court in Peoria, authorities said. Hernandez, whose alleged scheme helped bankroll the local Internet radio station Chicago Sports Webio, needed medical treatment after fleeing the Chicago area and apparently attempting suicide at a hotel in Normal. Federal officials said Hernandez waived a full hearing in Peoria, and U.S. Magistrate Judge John A. Gorman ordered him returned to Chicago. He remains in custody, and no date has been set for his arraignment at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse. |

You may not agree with who he chooses to represent, but every indication is that he represents them with diligence and professionalism. Who cares whether he appears in federal court, state court or kangaroo court? |

Who cares whether he appears in federal court, state court or kangaroo court? I have never ripped him as a lawyer. I find it hysterical that a litigator, who is in a job where he/she distrusts everyone and develops a healthy cynicism about just about everything along with a great sense of humor, falls under the spell of Mike North/Chet Coppock like a groupie and is THISCLOSE to a Ponzi scheme. Wrong set of heroes for David...period. |

Who cares whether he appears in federal court, state court or kangaroo court? I think it's his lack of judgment that many of us find amusing. "I have decided to stop advertising on the SCORE and commit my resources to Chicagosportswebio.com, the Monsters in the Morning, and my show Bearly Legal. I predict that webio will grow and become extremely successful. They have great talent and the talent and management have the determination to make it a success." |

EXACTLY.....he seems like some of those bimbo lawyers who fall in love with their mopey jailed clients. |

Dolphin, It all boils down to whether North made money for Spada and if his price was worth it. It obviously was. I think North's core group of listeners follows his suggestions and uses his advertisers. Can you fault Spada if he is just following good results for his money? |

Steve, it's really not a question about his advertising choices. It has been pointed out on several occasions that he does not normally practice in federal court with the implication that this makes him less of an attorney. |

We are in agreement on that. The advertising choice point was intended for many others on the board. |
