Does anyone know how many years are left on the WSCR / White Sox contract? Are the White Sox game ratings higher or lower than the rest of the shows on WSCR? I know the Sox games on WSCR don't draw anywhere near the number of listeners that the Cubs draw on WGN, but I wonder if having the Sox games helps or hinders the Score? I wonder if WSCR wants to retain the rights to Sox broadcasts? Anyone? |

I would suspect the Sock radio audience is directly proportional to its ballpark attendance... |

They got the Sox rights in 2006. I think it was a 5 year deal but I could be wrong. Ranger, we need your help. |

I was right. Found an old Teddy Greenstein article on the web. It's five years so 2010 is the last year of the deal: Byline: Teddy Greenstein CHICAGO _ During an on-air chat Thursday morning, Mike North referred to the White Sox's home as "Comiskey Park." Jerry Reinsdorf quickly corrected him: "It's U.S. Cellular Field, Mike." North replied: "Am I suspended? Here we go. It's already started." North and the Sox chairman became business partners Thursday with WSCR-AM 670's announcement that it had come to terms on a five-year agreement to become the team's new flagship station. The Score will broadcast every regular-season and 15 spring training games, ending the team's 10-year . |

I thought 670 The SCORE had one more year left on its original contract as the flagship of the Chicago White Sox Radio Network. Factually speaking, the Sox announced they were relocating during the 2005 World Series title season, but WSCR SportsRadio didn't start airing the games until 2006. If my math is correct, this is WSCR's 4th season as the Sox radio home. |
