"They should have known this guy's background," the Samps' attorney, Mark Belongia, said. "They knew more than what they are saying. They made statements that they knew Hernandez for 20 years and had no knowledge of his criminal background. That's illogical.

"They knew they were running [Webio] and it had zero revenue, but they were still able to pay everyone and sign contracts with people.

Finally! Someone is stating the obvious and holding North & Company responsible for their part in this. I'm just shocked the Chicago press actually printed it.

So what does this mean? North just says he didnt know anything about it and gets stuck with a ton of legal fees? North settles outside of court?

    This was inevitable. Will it be the end of North and Jiggs? Probably not; but the first round was fired. Don't be too surprised though if this the first of many to go after Hernandez's "business partner."

    Puckhead; I doubt it will be that simple. The offer to settle out of court is based on money. These people are suing to get the money back. Even if North offers to give back everything to this couple; they still will want a pound of flesh. He's up shit creek without a paddle now, as I'm sure they won't be the only investors to go after him as well.

    I think making Jiggetts a part of this is crap. Was he an investment partner? He "should" be protected from lawsuit under his employment contract.

    Good point. If he settles with this investor, he would have to settle with all of them. So he has to fight all of these.

    I have made my position on North known. I liked the guy that I heard on the radio. I knew he was likely a moron in real life. But, he made a mistake on this one by not doing a background check on his business partner. Its his fault and he should suffer the consequences.

    What if the civil lawyers find some people North may have talked to regarding Hernandez over the years and determine North was/should have been aware that this guy was a total con?

    North has big problems then...

    Is North being sued on some sort of negligence grounds?

        Oh brother! The chatroom vampires are out now. Go ahead suck every piece of blood out of this story for what it's worth. It just might be proven in a court of law,that the North's had no clue what DH was doing or how he made his money. Basically,all this BS because Mike did not want to take a pay cut that was still huge money. (to regular guys)
        He was determined to show that WSCR made a mistake & put the screws to them.
        Now he is getting screwed & got his wife involved. That would make me really sick. If I was swimming with some slimeball and told my wife to "jump in,honey,the waters fine!"

        I know. The only thing I could say is,that offer to North came shortly before the big downturn in the radiobiz when everybody was either getting dumped or salaries cut. If I walked away from that kind of money for working 6 hours a day,5 days a week,my wife would Ginzu my Gonads!

        So let's see. If Bebe did a proper background check (but who is to say she didn't?) then they would have realized this is a guy with a checkered past. You have to ask yourself, who else was willing to invest in cswebio? And of them, who else was a mic sniffer who might hang on longer than the average investor (because of the love of the media, etc.)? I know, it's fun to beat up on the guy, but what if they entered agreements knowing they had to take a chance? What then?

        Ultimately, it was Next Step/Hernandez who set up the ponzi to keep tiers of investors happy. Which is the true source of the complaint...

        Although, suing North for being a such a bad investment is interesting. I suppose if they actually billed people they ran ads for, it might've helped. Geez, and that wasn't a large amount anyway.

        Great point. I went thru this thread thinking the exact same thing. Why isn't the Harvard educated Jiggs getting the same heat as North? I know North touts himself as some streetwise sage (maybe he'll be selling Streetwise soon), but to me, Jiggs falling for this is just as laughable, if not more so. What a moron.

        This is the last thing Jiggs wanted. The man goes out of his way to keep his nose clean. I am actually not sure why he was named, unless he has more of a deal with Mike than has been publicized? or did they just name Jiggs to get info?

        Is Jiggs going to need to prove he is an idiot too? What about SUPER AGENT BEBE NORTH? Idiot?

        If LECET does keep this sponsorship, I would have the State look into that deal, as in a 'normal' business relationship, that sponsorship would be ended and in the case of LECET they have a Fidicuary relationship to ned the sponsorship

          Excuse my ignorance, but what would the state or feds go after North for? You would think he and the wifey would have been indicted at the same time as Hernandez if the feds had something on them. This really just seems like stupidity and ignorance on the North clan.
