We give a lot of shit here, but seeing a Fred update today that he stood in an unemployment line was just a bit depressing. Did the guy make a bad choice? Yes. But we think we are so great. I would have been bilked into this crap because well.... I am not the smartest. And I think neither was Hood, Webby, Fred, etc. I hope these guys get jobs again like Hoody.

He was let go from 670 so I don't think the webio thing was really horrible for him. I always thought he was an okay listen so I do feel bad for him.

Lots of people are in that line and that is unfortunate.

ya can't blame fred on taking a chance. he had lost his job, another opportunity came up, could have been lucrative from what he was sold, so he took a chance, and it just didnt work out. Fred seems like one of the most professional out of the bunch at webio so I hope he lands a job soon. But the Chicago market, the way the radio managers run it, I think he's stuck as being an update guy here. But maybe if he moves out of the chicago market, he can make it big somewhere else.

Are you sure it wasn't the line at Uncle Bub's?

Where did you see that? I kind of liked Fred on the radio, nothing special, but certainly nothing bad. He never came across as a jerk like several on the air now and his former partner Murph.
I hope he lands something. Does he still do the soccer games?

He and Ofman both could do voiceovers for corporate videos, ads, etc.

Feel bad for Fred? Really?

I liked Fred, in just about all of his roles on The Score over the years, but come on.

Isn't the guy still doing soccer? That has to pay something, no? Just because he can't find a job yapping about sports does NOT mean that there are not jobs out there -- didn't he spend a lot of time at Walgreens? Aren't they hiring?

Seriously, if he (or any other of these radio guys) feel too proud to go grab a job non-media - I'm sorry, I can't feel bad for them. Go figure out a way to make a few bucks while working on your pursuit to get back on the air....OR, just blog about being out of work. Either way.

I like Fred. Always have. But with him still picking up a few bucks for doing Fire games and his wife still employed with some school district job (as far as I know), he's probably not #1 on my list of people to be concerned about.

Im not sure on the soccer thing. He may do only regular season because he was not doing the last playoff game.

Hope everything works out for all of these guys.
Fred was an easy listen.
Knows his baseball and the Bears.

Interesting thought. Fred used to do segments on Gil Brandt's syndicated show, as the "expert" on AFC teams. He could do stuff like that again.

When that class action North initiated with Hernandez settles, he will be fine.
