I did not get the name of the caller to L. Holme's show about 1 hour before the sox game monday night, but I have to chime in with a tip of the cap to whomever it was.
This guy called in and absolutely pasted Holmes with a cross examination that would do Clarence Darrow proud.
the caller focused on the Kenny Williams, Peavy and Alex Rios flap with respect to Holmes and his bluster about the peavy trade and Laurence had nothing in response.
some of the highlights from Holmes replies to this callers questions
"Do you just not like me then or something"
Holmes then tries to turn the conversation to the Bears (something Holmes has experience about), the caller basically made it seem that Cowley is reporting conjecture (that Holmes will deny the credibility of due to the fact that GMs lie and use local media to market their moves or the perception that they are making or trying to make moves).
Holmes didnt have the sack to put those questions to Kenny Williams (who had just been on the show). Holmes tried to have it both ways (to be the skeptical sports media guy (a la Boers and Bernsy), but when Kenny gave him access on the fan zone or whatever they call that show, he couldnt help himself and had to kiss Kennys ass and became the typical fawningn new guy in sports media.
The caller did an excellent job of pointing out his hypocracy and I have to say that it was great radio in that you could imagine Holmes squirming as the caller pasted his ass.
In the end, after the call ended, holmes says
"you might thing you got me there, but you didnt"
hey Holmes, who are you crappin, that caller pasted your ass
