Excellent work, people!
Ok, I guess I now have something to comment on (even though it has nothing at all to do with "Other WSCR'S & ESPN'S - sorry):
Dee brown and James Augustine of the Illini have ZERO future in the NBA, and The Illini will be a second-round exit this March.
It hurts me to say this, but Dee CANNOT run an offense, create his own shot, or finish near the basket.
Augustine has NO POWER MOVE and has SERIOUS routine brain farts under pressure (leading to incessant traveling calls and foul-mania). I also thought that James would be at least TEN TO FIFTEEN pounds heavier this season, but it LOOKS like he has LOST weight instead (even though the official word is that he gained).
Dee will be a great point guard in GREECE, and Augustine will be ITALY's best pro big-man.
And it is all a damn shame.
I am an alum, and I have been TOTALLY on the jock of this team since my matriculation nearly a dozen years ago, but with last year causing such a rise in expectations, the encore season has become nothing more than a pathetic mess.
Isn't there ANYONE who can drive to the godddamn hole or use some moves to get open for ANY SHOT OTHER THAN A 35-footer?
Maybe its just me, but I watch a LOT of pro and college Basketball, and I couldn't help but think that during the Penn State game it sure looked a whole hell of a lot like they were playing AGAINST THE SPREAD (which was -20) instead of against PSU. Just "hoisting-up" threes ALL DAY like it was me on NBA LIVE or something. When I was at school there there were always rumors of certain players (I will not name any) laying bets - who knows?
Just because Brown and Augustine may not be career NBA players doesn't mean that they can't be very good college players.
Augustine is an excellent role player, and probably a 3rd scoring option on a top team.
Brown is a great sparkplug player, a little too up and down to make me feel comfortable turning to him for 20 points a night.
Saying that, they are good college players - they just need more help than they're getting from their teammates on a consistent basis. I think if a 3rd option offensively can develop, that will make Brown (especially) and Augustine more effective.
