OK, for awhile Muprh was taking quite a beating here and on the Air, but Murph is the best host they have for talking baseball. Sox and Cubs. Give the guy credit for knowing the game, taking calls and watching almost every pitch of every game. Once againm all Cubs and Sox games.

The next time Murf gives a shit about the Sox (who won the World Series last year, but let's talk about a knot hole in the RF wall at Wrigley) will be the first time.

You can tell he only talks WSox because he's TOLD to. If he had his way we'd hear nothing but Cubs talk and old radio bits for 2 long painful hellish hours.

Absolutely. Murph and Sox never belong in the same sentence unless its "Hey fans did you see the Sox last night, you would never see Dusty Baker do that. Give Murph a call on why Dusty is a terrible manager."

The guy brags about not going into the locker room. Last time I checked as a reporter that is part of your job to bring another aspect of the game that most fans don't get to see.

[Murf voice] But, caller Nas, I'm not a reporter, I'm just a fan. He..hel..hello. <dial tone> Let the record show, caller Nas hung up on Murph. Hey caller Nas, why don't you go hang out with Mike Mulligan and his press pass.[/voice]

I disagree bigfan. He doesn't talk baseball, unless he feels a need to justify using his "Bud Selig refused to talk to us" drop. He doesn't talk Sox. He talks ad nauseum Cubs, even when there isn't anything to talk about.

(s)Murf has earned every beating he's gotten. Case in point, today's good show. I had an appointment today & when I left (about 5 minutes into his show) he was talking about Pryor's arm. I got back at 1:18 & despite only have 2 hours on the air he was still rambling on the same subject!

I clicked off at that point to make a few phone calls so I don't know if he ever did mention the White Sox. Now I realize (s)Murf bills himself as a "Cub fan for Cubs fans" but didn't the fact that the World Series champions haven't been able to put their projected starting line up on the field this far into spring training even warant a passing note?

Again I'll argue with you here. I don't believe that he knows the game. note: hammering minutiae into a greasy spot doesn't count :-)

I'll grant you he does try really hard to project the "I'm just a fan but I know better than anyone else" air, but if you listen closely a majority of his analysis is regurgitated from what he reads in the paper or hears on the radio. He then gives us his opinion on what someone else has already said.

It's kind of ridiculous that you have to give a sports talk show host credit for actually watching the teams that they talk about, but Muphy does at least watch the Cubs play, and probably just flips to the White Sox during commercials.

While he is prepared to talk about the Cubs (mostly), he has turned into nothing more than very negative, and a monday morning QB....Now, I know the Cubs aren't anything great, but he NEVER has a good word for anybody with the Cubs during the season....I usually get sick of it, and look to not tune into him.

The one and only time I'll ever give that fuckstick credit will be the day he quits. Of course that'll never happen. The day they fire him, there will be claw marks in the studio.

He should have more time for the Sox considering they are on at night.

I'm talking about when they are on at the same time, which is probably more than 1/2 the season...When the Sox are on by themselves, I think he does what other hosts do, which is basically watch SportsCenter, read the paper, and then come on and talk like they watched the game.

Murphy may watch a lot of baseball, but he doesn't know the game.
