Okay, so I'm not Murph's biggest fan, but what kind of PD would allow Murph to do the show he did on Wednesday?

Wednesday marked the debut of the White Sox on WSCR, something I would call a watershed moment in a station's history. Blackhawks, DePaul, NIU live coverage don't compare to play by play of a live Major League Baseball team. So, instead of focusing on the '06 Sox, or even focusing on the fact that this once rinky dink station that broadcast from a bunker is now carrying a big league franchise, Murph does an hour of Cubs talk and has Dale Baumann (sp?) the Trib's outdoors guy on in hour #2. The White Sox and their historic first broadcast on the Score go unnoticed.

How about getting Teddy Greenstein or Fast Eddie Sherman on to discuss Chris Singleton? I'm sure Brooks Boyer would have given Murph 5 minutes to talk about what being on the Score means to the Sox. But, no we get Cubbie talk and Bassmasters coverage.

WTF, Mitch? Wake up buddy, you're asleep at the switch and your ratings are dropping. You'd better get this guy in line, or ole Uncle Jerry is going to rapping at YOUR backdoor, buddy.

Can't argue with anything you said.

His show may have made sense after a few White Sox spring training games, but I was a bit suprised they didn't hype it...It's not like they haven't been advertising this first spring training game for the last 2 months.

I'm sure Rosen said something and Murph pitched a hissy fit. He had Bouman on out of spite.

Murphy's going to be all Cubs this year with the White Sox sprinkled in....Then the Score can say that cover both teams equally!

You know, listening to that show, I thought the same damn thing.

This guy isn't INTENTIONALLY ignoring the meal ticket that's going to keep his station afloat for the next 5 years, is he? So, I dismissed it.

Reason, thanks for telling me that I shouldn't have dismissed it because he probably was being spiteful.

Hummer, don't put anything past a petulant middle-aged child.

(s)Murf Spiteful? Immature?

Remember we're talking about someone who refuses to do transition with B&B before or after the time changes. In fact, despite all the cross compliments between the other shows about interviews & such I can't remember the last time he even *mentioned* their show on his.

We're also talking about someone who threw a hissyfit on the air over a Mully joke that he took waaayyyy too seriously and someone who is so unprofessional that he'll leave dead air until a caller leaves just so he can say Let the record show....

Murph is entirely too campy for today's sports radio.

He should team up with Chet Chit Chat and talk about old codger "back in tha day" stories for two hours.

Actually, that might be something I'd listen to, but I guess Chet isn't to fond of having partners.

This annoying prick is a one trick pony: all Cubs all the time. When the Sox were making history, Murph was using the occasion to bash the Cubs organization. He sounds like some kind of creepy stalker in all his promos. "I'll be watching you", "I'll be talking Cubs all season", etc. Someone needs to take this miserable Caller Bob out back, and go Old Yeller on his ass. I'd love to know what he and Jessie have over this station.

Agree, 100%. About 10 minutes before the Sox broadcast started, Murph is playing what sounds like some college fight song, talking about how peanuts are salted, and drinking a cold one. The bastard is a joke on the air. I can't stand him.

Jesus, sometimes I myself can't tell the difference!

How about that, though?

Meld these two egos and we might have at least ten minutes of a good radio per two hours.

ANd I bet Chet would be able to kill off all of Murph's lame drop-ins, too.
