Well, 5 minutes until it begins again. As I did yesterday I'll try to include the time and summary of the drop. I do think there are normally more but with the Bonds thing yesterday (and today I'm sure as well) he'll have a lower number because of the subject matter. We'll see though. Wish me luck...

I appreciate the effort, but man you're one sadistic puppy. I listened to a half hour of the "let's sabotage Murph" show, and I'm still having nightmares. Godspeed hawkeye.

First hour update: After one hour, there's almost as many drops today as there were all of yesterday.

" I swear", I did not read your post on this topic untill now .. I coming home from playing Poker on the River Boat TODAY and I thorw Murph on as he is having a conversation with Steve Stone , he doing the drop- ins while Stones talking.. My buddy say's " Is this guy for real"?

It sounds like a bad skit from Laugh-IN !!! The guy reminds of Gary Owens from Laugh-in ..

Well, here are the results from day 2. I always thought there were a ton of drops and sounds on Murphs show but after doing this for two days in a row and looking at it on paper, it's insane how many there are. Enjoy...

12:04 The carnage is about to begin...
12:05 "That's News You could Use, Fellas" Mike North Drop
12:05 Lame "Mike Murphy intro song" from when GHW Bush was in the White House
12:06 Lame "Celebrity Line Ringing" sounds for intro to Stone
12:06 First "Rimshot" talking to Stone
12:09 Second "Rimshot" talking about Crabs (the kind you get on your junk, not the kind you eat)
12:10 Some new "Guy Laughing" drop followed by...
12:10 Another "Rimshot". That's 3 rimshots in the first 6 minutes of the show for those keeping score at home
12:16 "Guy Laughing" drop again
12:17 Baker Interview clip
12:18 "Rimshot" again
12:18 "Guy Laughing" immediately following rimshot
12:19 "Ohhohoho, that's not funny" drop. Is this OB's voice?
12:25 A much needed commercial break. Thank god for Stone being on. The interview made the time go by much faster.
12:32 And we're back from commercial to get a Bloomberg update
12:35 Back to Murph from the Update and...
12:35 "Carnival style music" begins as Murph starts to take emails
12:35 "Bud Selig Declined to talk to us"
12:35 "Dusty Baker" drop
12:35 "Rimshot"
12:37 "Carnival" music stops, but "James Bond style music" quickly begins to replace it.
12:38 Replay of Dusty interview
12:42 "Clapton Guitar Solo" starts in background
12:43 "Bud Selig declined to talk to us"
12:43 "Bud Selig declined to talk to us" (YES HE DID IT TWICE IN THE SAME MINUTE)
12:44 "Clapton Guitar Solo" ends as we cut to commercial
12:47 "I think that's an unfair rap" Dusty drop IN BETWEEN COMMERCIALS (Isn't that against the rules?)
12:50 Back from commercial with Munson interview clip
12:51 "Sultans of Swing" starts playing in the background
12:54 Off to commercial again after taking one call
12:54 "I don't know man, lets change the subject" Dusty Baker drop
12:54 "Bud Selig declined to talk to us"
12:54 Cut to commercial as Zeppelin plays
1:01 Back from commercial playing some hillbilly sounding music
1:01 "It's going to rain tonight" drop when reading an email
1:02 Out to commercial yet again after less than a minute
1:05 Back from commercial to another "Munson interview" clip from yesterday
1:07 "Rimshot" drop
1:08 "Dusty Baker bad day for baseball" clip
1:08 "Mike North talking about Dusty Baker talking about bad day for baseball" clip
1:13 Caller gets hung up on by Murph for defending Dusty and asking Murph why he never gives Dusty credit when the Cubs win
1:16 "Browns Chicken Caller of the Show" drop to the white guy following the black guy Murph hung up on
1:17 "It was out there already" Dusty clip
1:17 "Mike North talking about Dusty Baker talking about bad day for baseball" clip
1:17 Metallica One guitar starts playing as Murph getting ready for commercial (actually enjoying this one)
1:19 Gay clapping for Jack Phelan read as we cut out to commercial and Metallica music ends
1:24 "Manager like Dusty Baker" drop IN BETWEEN COMMERCIALS AGAIN
1:27 "Munson interview" clip from yesterday yet again
1:27 "It Ain't Me" starts to play in the background and ends after 10 seconds
1:28 "Rimshot" drop talking about "The Three Scumbags" How creative...
1:28 Back to Bloomberg for another update
1:32 Update ends and we hear a quick clip of "Free Bird"
1:32 "Rimshot" drop
1:35 "Harp" drop coming out of North Interview clip
1:35 "Pusher Man" clip and we're back out to commercial
1:40 "It's either Home run or nothing" drop between commercials before the "Fitness Experts" commercial

1:41 "Bud Selig declined to talk to us"
1:41 "Dusty Baker" drop
1:47 Off to commercial
1:54 Back from Commercial
1:54 "Oooh Doggie" drop
1:54 Gay Murph exit music takes us out to exciting White Sox Baseball (Hooray, it's over)

nice job once again... you have both my admiration & my sympathy.

I always thought the "Ohhohoho, that's not funny" drop was Bill Walton.

Wow, why would you do that to yourself? Is your job really that bad youd rather be listening to Murph then working? Wow!

Nah, I love my job but work from home so can make my own schedule. Plus, it's always been something that interested me and doesn't seem like anyone has done it. Kind of breaks the monotony of "hot chick" posts and "boers and bernsie are arrogant" posts. Seemed like a good cause to me.

Hawkeye, you're a better man than I am. No way could I even listen to that jerk for 2 hours, let alone take notes. Did you use one of Murph's "yellow pads"?
BTW, does Stone get paid a bonus to be on goofy's show? I can't imagine anyone would appear voluntarily.

I hadn't realized that I (or they) had reached the level of monotony. Solutions?

hawkeye, this makes for fantastic reading! Congrats for coming up with this idea. I don't know why I love it, but I love it.

I always thought "oh oh oh, that's not funny" sounded like Jeff Torborg.

Speaking of Murph's theme that he's used since the Bush-41 era, I still, to this day, can't make out half the lyrics. "Here's Mike Murphy, he's the man on a plan Sunday more"?

Did he really play Metallica, One? How weird!

I missed a lot, but missed a little! This is like Thin Books! Or Compressed Radio Shows!

Glad you liked it, 24 Guy. I'm done for awhile now and can't see myself suffering through that again. Cooler, the babes pics are definately not stale. I just wanted to change things up a bit. Keep up the great work.

I agree that hawkeye has produced a work of genius. It strikes me as such because it actually quantifies Murph's crappiness by showing in objective terms the extent to which he relies upon gimmickry rather than spontaneity in his shows. hawkeye deserves some kind of award for both his innovativeness and his selflessness.

Maybe Murph will show up at his front door with a boombox looping "Congratulations! You have been named the critic of the board!" while he's holding a Brown's Chicken gift certificate and hissing "It's the Chicago way."

hawkeye, good thing you aren't tracking drops today, it's What's Your Beef! Would you have to log every moo? Every time the trumpet blared for a Brown's Chicken winner? That would be brutal.

Here's a question: If there are indeed Score spies here, could someone have told Murph you were going to count the drops again yesterday, and so he played a whole lot more just to jerk you around??

Wow, thanks for the compliments. I'll do it again next Thursday for What's Your Beef just for fun to see how many there really are. And Doug, even if you are a fan of Murph this "exercise" could be used as constructive criticism for him to actually realize how dependant he has become on the various drops, sounds, and background music instead of concentrating on the subject at hand. Maybe he could improve the show?

I listened fairly regularly after the schedule shuffle & it seemed like a pretty typical number of drops to me. In fact there are a lot MORE god-awful drops (s)Murf plays that aren't represented in either list.

one producer always played a few sMurf drops on overnites until he got a note from sMurf to stop it. from then on it was all-sMurf from mid-night to 6am until the Sybian Dru Hays stepped in.

I was referencing the "monotony of hot chicks" comment.... 8)
and nothing would improve this show.....
