It's the day after the NCAA Selections, even casual sports fans are looking at their brackets and listening to sports radio, and you lead off your show with the big, bold, news of...Todd Walker? Breaking down Walker and Baker interview segments as if this is the biggest story in Chicago sports? Is there another Chicago sports radio host more out of touch with the common interests of the fan than this man? |

You hit the nail on the head. Problem is, Murph knows next to nothing about college basketball. College football, the NFL, NBA, and MLB for that matter either. He knows the Cubs and Wrigley Field. How the heck that is worthy of a daily sports talk show during radio prime time is only something SCR management knows. Murph must work DAMN cheap. |

Is there another Chicago sports radio host more out of touch with the common interests of the fan than this man? Fuck, I was thinking the SAME EXACT THING while I was listening on my way home. I don't care about college basketball too much, but even I thought there had to be something better than talking about Walker and him almost saying the word starter. Did you hear Murph play the Dusty sound bite twice? Murph is laughing in the background! Maybe LH resembles Urkel, but I dunno... Murph isn't too far from being Urkle-esqued... |

Yeah, it's pretty bad today but one thing I have to say about Murph is he sure sticks to his guns. If I was a huge Cub fan I'd probably like this show quite a bit. It is pretty depressing listening to him drone on and on about such unimportant things. He's reminding me of Bernstein when he gets all excited about a "big news story". Bernstein is at least interesting to listen to. Murph makes me want to do to myself what that guy at the end of the Sopranos did last night. |

Half the conversations he talks about concerning the Cubs are meaningless just like today's Walker issue. Seriously, this guy is not just a Cubs fan... he's a Cubs geek with no outside life. As bad as a computer geek might be around computers, they got nothing on Murph and his obsession with the Cubs. Murph -- "Dusty Baker doesn't cut his finger nails! He is a savage, what kind of impression is he making on his son, by gosh... the man doesn't cut his finger nails, HA HA HA HA HA, imagine nails on a chalkboard, HA HA HA!" |

I customized a javascript stopwatch script in anticipation of tracking how little time Mikey spends actually talking sports & figured I'd test it out on (s)Murfs show today. The 1st hour results... Cubs talk... 0:51:32 NCAA Talk... 0:00:13 Bears talk... 0:00:42 Sox Talk... 0:00:35 format is H:MM:SS note: the cubs talk was a solid block so it includes updates & commercials |

Yeah, that's true. I question whether he really is even a Cub fan or not. He never has anything positive to say about them. I know they've been disappointing the last 2 years but all he does is rip into them constantly. He doesn't display any attributes that a typical fan would show. |

I don't care what the topic is, I can't stand the dick. The shrill voice, the thin-skinned, pussy attitude, and the hackneyed drop-ins, all make me tune out from 12-2. I'd take Coppock over this jagoff in a heartbeat. |

I think we all now seem to agree with good old Murph's a Tool. Murphy is a piece of sh*t. He's no Cub fan, he's just an angry, bitter fool. Does anyone here think there is even one person in radio, sports or life who respects this jerk? His co workers, competitors and atheletes all make fun of this guy, usually not much of a sign of respect. He claims he's a Cubs fan as a gimmick. He is the LAST place any Cub fan goes to hear info on the team. He's like a woman with PMS, bitching all the time. |

Cooler, that is awesome. Any chance to do the same with North's show? That's the one I'm the most interested in by far. Was it much work to do once you set that up? It's a pipedream, but it would be really cool to collect data from North, Murphy, B&B, and MJH and then compare the shows to each other. We could then compare those results to the most recent ratings. Would be interesting to see if there's a correlation. |

Aside from the drops, my biggest annoyance with Murph is when he does that weird thing with his voice that sounds like he's gargling man-goo. It really grosses me out. |

All I did was take a simple start-stop-reset javascript stopwatch, make a few modifications, & integrate it into a blank HTML page. (see HERE) Since I use Mozilla I just opened one in a tab for each subject and clicked them on/off as the topics changed. For Mikey it would be even simpler because all you'd be tracking is sports vs non-sports talk so all you need is two stopwatches. |

For North, I think we'd need to do a couple more categories. 1. Sports Talk 2. Non-Sports Talk 3. Commercial time 4. Updates 5. In-show commercial reads. |

Maybe create some non-sports sub categories? Arguing with Anne, Political interviews, etc... |

I'll leave the stopwatch script up for you guys to play with but personally all I'm interested in doing is debunking the morning show "We talk White Sox/Bears/Cubs/Sports" promos that run ad nauseum throughout the day |

Those promos saying "we talk sports" actually consume more air time then North talking sports. Does Score management realize that by running those promos on a "all sports station" actually serves as an concession that you don't talk sports. It's like an Italian reastaurant taking an ad in the paper saying we serve Italian food. |

Way to go Cooler. Truth in advertising: "...While that other station is talking about Kansas Cities offense, we're playing a real estate game..." |

I do believe he's a Cub fan, but he's so over-the-top negative that it gets old after awhile. Watch after Baker leaves town. The next manager he'll love -until he starts managing! Murph loves to Monday morning QB as well following games. |

Since I don't listen to this miserable prick, can anyone tell me what he was like during the '03 season? I can only imagine what he was like after the Bartman game. Did he put a bounty on Stevie B's head? I don't know how he survived that. |
