There was a new christmas commercial with him last weekend. Not sure why they would have him doing that if they didnt anticipate him returning. |

If given a choice of listening to Matt Rodewald, Bruce Wolf, Corey McPherrin, Teddy Greenstein, or Murph...i'll take Murph. |

I ripped Murph here for pouting, but I always thought the guy was excellent on weekends and right after games. Murph and Fred were fine in morning drive, also. |

He was fine until he tried to take calls & do his segments along with the tightly-timed update segments. Hanley & Mully are far more relaxed in terms of callers, updates, etc. Still, Murph got good ratings in the morning |

Murph on winter weekends was ideal IMO. Driving around through the muck & cold and he could talk Cactus League/Hot Stove for four hours. Almost made working/commuting on a Jan.-Feb. Saturday passable. |

If you get Murph out of the frantic pace of the 2-hour midday show, or the morning show, he's a very pleasant listen. To him the important thing is the timing of the show (IMO.) Mess it up and he's thrown off. |

I heard Murph doing a Score commercial too last week. I thought they had stopped using him as a pitchman, but I guess not. |

I didn't care for Murph on a daily basis, especially once baseball ended for the year. I hate it when he creates straw man arguments. Basically he would take a couple of facts, then create a false black & white argument out of it and try to pigeonhole everyone's opinion into it. Drove me nuts, and drove me to listen to the dead air space show, aka Rome. |

I'd love to hear Murph overnites or weekends, but please pair him with someone, preferably Fred. Still the best morning sports show in Chicago. |

I thought maybe that letter was someone impersonating him, given how accurately it imitates his annoying verbal style, its reference to the 1950's, and the unnecessary baseball bits thrown in. Either way, I read it in his voice in my head and it made me shudder. |

I like the Monday - Friday lineup the way it is, but I would like to hear Murph at night before Les, or on the weekends. Not sure if they get along, but cross talk between Murph and Les would be interesting, and probably fun too. |

Post subject: | Re: Murph Sighting? |
The big problem with Murph and what probably cost him his job was his lack of overall sports knowledge. His noon to 2 gig ratings were good but once baseball season ended, his show was a disaster. The Blackhawks were really on the come and he'd still be talking baseball in December....mostly crappy Cubs baseball. When he did happen to address the NHL or even the NBA...the result was pretty damn ugly. I guess he could become a seasonal guy, kinda like they're doing with Hampton, but other than that....his ship has sailed. |
