Mark Grote said in an update that Wisconsin upset Michigan St. last night. How is it an upset, when a two point favorite at home wins?

He isn't the only one who does this, I just heard him do it this morning.

MSU is higher in the standings, and is ranked higher.

Gambling lines aren't set to pick a favorite. They are set to get people to bet on both sides.

But, the Badgers were favored to win a home game. That doesn't make it an upset in my world. Northwestern beating Purdue, that's an upset.

MSU is higher in the standings, and lower in the rankings. They are (were) a better team.

I agree with Chus here that the line on the game determines the favorite more than an arbitrary ranking system.

Bucky Chris being biased about his Badgers imo

Mark Grote isn't the only update anchor that's guilty of describing an upset that's not really an upset when describing scores of other games. Besides, I think someone other than Grote wrote the copy... Let's find out if the "Scoreboard Update" anchor during Jason Goff's show this eve mentions that very word in describing an upset that isn't really that...
