I turned on the radio today at 4:45pm and was listening to both ESPN and WSCR. I noticed that both stations were running the same NCAA tournament program. The score had a 10 second delay though.

Good thing you didn't turn on SCR earlier. They gave the "Ginger haired Jackass" 4 hours of pregame at Indy. Truly icepick in the ear radio.

Just the latest in Score management's incompetence. Do they really think they have something with this douche? I find him totally unlistenable. I find his preachy, patronizing, I know more than you approach to be supremely irritating. When I heard Rongey say he was up next, I instinctively reached for the dial. Then the Ranger (god that's gay) told me ZZ was at the Final Four and rattled off a fairly impressive guest list. I decided to give it a chance. Not ten minutes in, and this dildo is whining about "How could someone egg Bruce Webber's house?" Can this guy EVER live in the present? I really almost punched my radio. He's constantly rehashing old news. I was waiting for the Webber shit to dovetail into Bears playoff loss discussion. This guy should be shackled to the update desk, because that's the only place he should ever be within reach of a live mic.

I remember ZZ doing the Sunday afternoon show before the championship game last year. A caller stated that Illinois plays good defense. ZZ cut the caller off and then proceeded to yell, "Illinois doesn't have a good defense, they have a GREAT defense!!" After that he called people morons and stuff. Four hours later he was saying the same stuff.
I guess the score wouldn't send some to the Final four to discuss the Bears loss. I bet if ZZ had no guests, it would have been Bears talk.

Every interview he did with someone from the Big East started the same way & the reaction was worth a chuckle.... he said "You're not going to like me" obviously waiting for the respondent to ask "Why not?". The problem is no one took the bait & after a short unconfortable pause ZZzzzz had to prompt the guest with "Do you know why? I went to Syracuse"

Oh & don't bother with the knee jerk "well why didn't you turn it off?" I wanted to hear Kareem's interview hoping he'd talk about how his NBA history movie was progressing.

It would have been great if Boeheim had agreed that he did not like Zaidman.

I heard a wierd thing on Saturday. Hood was talking with Bruce Pearl on 1000 while Zaidman was talking with him on 670. Both shows were presumably live.

I heard them both interviewing Bobby Crimmins at exactly the same time. My sense is both shows had recorded interviews. The Hood interview ended, went to commercial, I switched the dial and ZZ was already in the middle of his Crimmins interview. ZZ's was undeniably worse. But I'm not nominating Hood for an Emmy either.

On a related note...both Hood and ZZ share an affliction with most of the other 2nd string Chicago radio guys -- they have difficulty talking about college hoops and analyzing the games without coming back to the NBA. So much of these guys' interest is who is ready for the NBA, who is not, the players who are not playing in the tourney, the guys in this game or that who will play in the NBA, who is good enough for the NBA, ad nauseum. Why is it that so few guys in this town can simply talk about COLLEGE BASKETBALL...the games, the matchups, the stories. Compare it to college football bowl season, for example. During that week, we got mostly discussions of the games, not discussions of which players on which teams were first round NFL draft choices. But so many of these guys seem incable of simply talking about college hoops for its own sake. Instead, they have to always come back to the NBA angle. And in this regard, I'll do something I haven't done yet on this board...praise Jeff Dickerson. He's actually the only guy who has consistently shown he can actually talk about college basketball in a meaningful way without feeling the need to regularly invoke the NBA angle. And for that, this college hoops fan is thankful.

I think Zaidman is close to the OG level, definately unlistenable for me, reach for the dial everytime. I don't like North, but hearing about how he told him off, man that put a smile on my face

Yes, they probably do think they "have something with this douche." Your description of him sounds exactly like Bernstein, and they eventually gave him the afternoon drive show, so that tells you what they think of unlistenable, irritating, preachy, patronizing douches.

Good point on the college hoops talk. I have to look long and hard to find a local show that consistently talks college hoops, outside the obligatory one/two segment Illini recap after big games and the tournament coverage. I'll praise B & B for bringing on all the Big Ten coaches (sans Alford) each year to talk about the upcoming conference play.

PS. Has anyone listened to the show ZZ did one weekend last year, right before the UofI vs AZ game and did your radio suffer a physical abuse?

Yeah, I do remember that show. We should all get together and file a class-action suit for that travesty. Sadly, I too, if forced to have to listen to ZZ or Jesse would choose the latter. Man, that hurt to print.
