former producer al latall not fazed by losing leg to cancer Hi Reg - They bounced me out of the hospital fast & said there was nothing more they could do for me for the time being. Now the healing process starts & it'll be about 3 weeks before the stitches come out & then we start preparation for a temporary prosthesis. Things did go very well in the surgery & although there is still pain in the remaining part of my leg (above the knee) there are rehab exercises I have to do. The weirdest part is what they call "phantom pain," like the whole limb is still there. I've experienced some of that & phantom itching too. It can take up to a year for that to totally go away. I remain very optimistic. Although there is hard work left to do, I will do it! Thank you so much for your concern. It means so much to me to hear from you & I want to try to contact each person personally, besides the Facebook messages I post. More to come. AL |
