I've never heard anyone worse than this guy. He mispronounces names ... something which no sports announcer should be guilty of. How much time does it take to check with the team's PR person or another announcer before the game, to make sure you get the players' names right? Also, Singleton & Farmer have absolutely no chemistry. I've never really liked Farmer, either -- but at least when Rooney was doing Sox play-by-play, there was a pro in the booth with him. Announcing games for the defending World Series champions in the third largest market in the country is NOT the place to be getting on-the-job training. But that's what's happening right now on The Score every time they air a Sox game. |

This may have been posted but I am lazy. Are Singleton and Farmeo employees of the White Sox or the Score? Seems like the Sox would have final say of broadcasters. If that is the case, then the Score should no longer get bashed for the Sox broadcasts. |

I assume the Sox, since that is the situation over on the Northside, where the broadcasters fall under the jurisdiction of John McDonough, the VP of Marketing. |

WSCR employees, with approval from Jerry r and Kenny W. Thus Kenny is GREAT friends with Singlio, how od you think a guy that didn't have an uadition got the job and being it is his first job, sounds like a High School broadcast |

I can ALMOST understand a mistake here and there from the elder Farmio, but Singleton was in the game not too long ago and should probably know better. |

Yes, the Score hired them, and the Score is the reason John Rooney is not in the booth anymore, a fucking embarrassment (while paying someone who didn't graduate high school 7 figures). Now there are minor league broadcasts that can be rated above this piece of crap team, an embarrasment |

Singleton may be a nice guy and he may even turn out to be a good broadcaster some day. The point is, he SHOULD NOT be doing on-the-job training on major league games in the the third largest radio market in the U.S. for the defending World Series champions. At this point, he should be doing the Winston-Salem Warthogs at best and learning his craft. To all who call this an embarrassment and blame the Score for hiring him, I agree. (And Farmer's not a lead play-by-play guy, in my opinion, either, making the combination even more lethal.) However, in fairness, it must be noted that the Sox did have a say in this, too. I recall Brooks Boyer, the Sox marketing and media guy, saying something like after one conversation with Singleton, he "knew he was their guy." It's really a shame to go from John Rooney to this, especially in light of all the increased attention the team is getting as Series champs. I'm a long-time Sox guy, but I think the team really dropped the ball big-time on this one. |
