Listening to a little J Hood on Saturday and it's just a good show. I know the guy was an ass during the Telander thing, but it's not like he came on the air attacking guys like Murph has done now a few times.

I actually like Murph, but they should have kept J Hood and put him in the Mornings with North instead of the 45 year old housewife. Not sure the housewife brings the edge to the Score that a Sports fan thinks of.

Would Hood be willing to stand up to North? Maybe...

Nas, I figured you would be the first guy to back the Hood love. Hood with anybody is a disaster. Hood alone is a disaster with less collateral damage. Everybody in media is guilty of stating the obvious from time to time. J Hood seems to do it all the time. He seems to force humor when humor isn't there. I gave him a chance a couple years ago and he is just terrible.

I'm gonna have to go with J Hood could only help the Mike North show. God, I hate that show. I'm on e of the few J Hood fans on these boards as well. I enjoyed his chatter on Saturday. I think he and North could have had some interesting arguements and finally somebody that could match North. But alas, whatever Pappy says, unfortunately still goes. Any thought of his on his show is f'ing scripture according to Fred.

Bernsy is the best choice to put North in line. But the show wouldn't work. Bernsy would put logic to every cave man arguement North has. Pappy always looks like a fool to listeners because they can shoot down his arguments easily. But to have Bernsy do it on the air would make North look even more foolish. He wouldn't stand for it and for some reason he gets his way. His only come back to Bernsy would be "oh your just a liberal dats what your are"

Half of the North and Bernstein show would be double and triple explanations of bernsie's fancy educated language.

Just my dream of realizing the appearance of the Bookie Rabbi.

Oy vey!

hey so what station is hood on these days mvp?

i always liked hood's show on weekends late nights on the score. even his weekend day shifts were good. i liked his laid back view on sports that made his show perfect for those weekend late night drives back from parties.

i like j hood...he used to bug me with how he treated callers on the score, but i think the score gets more dope callers than espn. so, i can kind of see his "tell me why" attitude.
but, i like his show.
and he would have totally helped the north show. they may have actually talked sports...

some guy i know...

anyhoo, i think hood has a much stronger personality that most of the wet blankets at that radio station. i'm not saying the show would be appnt. radio, but it'd certainly be better than the crap being spewed from the orifices of the mnms.

Main problem with Hood? He seemed to look for controversy where none existed. He seemed to argue with co-hosts where none was needed. So he was more of a calculated - and bad - debater: if North said today was sunny - Hood said it was dark. If Telander said the Bulls would win today - Hood said no they wouldn't. If Murphy said the Sox would win the World Series - Hood said no they wouldn't. If Bernstein said Geroge Ryan would be found guilty - Hood said no he wouldn't; I can teach a monkey to go in the opposite direction every time.

Count me in as a Hood fan, and count me in on being a bigger fan of the North/Hood team in the mornings. I still think that Pappy is a really good listen when he sticks to sports and has someone bring his best out of him.

Quick note:
A couple years ago when there was the hoopla about Dusty not having Ramirez bunt during the Houston game (the Cubs lost), Hood was partnered with North that day, and the way they tore the Cubs a new one for the decision was GREAT radio...I don't care what anyone says.

Maybe a dumb question, but do people that do spot appearances here and there have a contract with that particular station? I know Buffone, Rogers, etc. do

But what about guys that are on here and there: like Hood at 1000, when Silverman was with the Score, when Hanley use to be on just as a filler, etc.

Don't flame me please, it's something I've been wondering for a while.

Some do, others don't.

Silverman never had a contract in writing at the Score. It was understood after a while that he would be their main football guy. Hanley never had one until recently.

Doug does have a contract with the Score.

Jesse has one with the Hawks, but I don't think he has one with the Score.

Producers rarely have contracts.

Don't know if Hood has one now.

I don't think Hood has recoverd yet from the Telander Show debacle. Nas and I were his two biggest proponents here before Telander. I have not heard the same personality that I grew to like since the blow up. He continues to undercut his co workers on the air and is not as good to his callers.

If he was able to get regular work for a good amount of time at the station he would probably be able to work out his issues. I don't know when that will happen.

As for North, I have always thought it would be a great pairing. JHood has always parodied North when a caller to his show was being openly bigoted. It would be a revival of the Monsters....but it isn't going to happen.
