First question to Laurence, "What do you think about Walmart coming into the Pullman area?"

I didn't listen to his whole answer, but I do agree with him that the Mom and pop shops are gone already, do something to improve an area.

For all the beating Holmes takes here, espeically for his own show, which I still don't like, he does a fine job when asked to fill in on Mac's show or with B&B. I am guessing it is because the other guys recognize some of the bad stuff Laurence wants to get into, like Comic books, and stops it before it becomes a topic.

It's a very bombastic time.

I have a difficult time as it is taking this guy's opinions on anything sports related seriously, why would I care what he thinks about Walmart coming into the Pullman area?

Did the host preface the question by saying how great Laurence is and how awesome it is for him to finally get a shot on Chicago Tonight because he's the best, man?

Why is he on a semi real show?
Always had a problem with this show cosnidering Joel Weisman is an agent for a number of media people in this town. Which is the reason the same people are on TV in Chicago for years

loho has no business being on this type of show. wttw doesn't need a sports guy when 90% of the issues are not sports. nort probably pimped monsters and money by saying he was a frequent guest on chicago tonight, the problem being that he sucked on chicago tonight. larry needs to go run a comic book store or a gamestop and bring zach zaidman with him.

That was my initial thought, too, but then I remembered that people like North, Drex, and Mancow have been on the show before.

Joel Weisman is more than just a prominent agent in Chicago television, FYI. The reason why you see Laurence Holmes, Bruce Levine, Mike North and other sports media personalities on the same panel with the likes of longtime political editor Mike Flannery, soon to be with FOX32, the Chicago Reporter's Laura Washington, WBBM Newsradio 780's political editor Craig Dellimore and many, many others is that they discuss more than just sports on the show. That's the idea behind "Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review" Fridays at 7p on our Window To The World, WTTW 11. You may not necessarily care what LoHo thinks about non-sports topics, but Joel's the one asking the questions...

This sentence has no semantic value whatsoever! "Sports personalities are on a general discussion show because it's a general discussion show." So then isn't that the reason Larry and Pappy shouldn't be on Chicago Tonight? You got lost in a name-dropping forest of your own making.

The question still stands, why is he on a semi real show?

MINNOW the reason they do shows is to draw an audience, so the producers do care what the public thinks otherwise no show would ever be cancelled.

Like I said, you may not care about LoHo's thoughts about City Hall, but if Joel Weisman's asking...Say something!
