nastradamus wrote: What are the odds that Murph blames Dusty for D-Lee's injury? He'll blame Eyre and Furcal, and then Hendry for not signing Furcal. The only way he can blame Dusty is if Murph blames him for Eyre not being able to property field a bunt, "why didn't Eyre learn that in spring training...Dusty doesn't stress fundamentals..." |

Murph and Jesse tomorrow for four hours, get the stretcher ready. Oh and maybe the ice pick for the ear also. |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Is that your best Ron Santo impersonation? I wasn't thinking of Santo, but the emotion is the same. BTW, it's Cubs suicide hotline with Larry Holmes on the Score. Random speculation and crazy-ass trade talk abound! |

The more I think about it, the more I realize that this is going to give Murph even more anti-Hendry, anti-MacPhail (F-A-I-L, say it like you mean it) ammo. "Furcal should be in a Cubs uniform...." "That bleacher expansion should have led to payroll expansion..." "Just like Maddux, they let Furcal get away over peanuts...." More misguided Cub crap from 12 to 2. Murph and Jesse tomorrow has got to be punishment for some atrocity we've all commited. |

Not to drop my cock in anyone's Kool-Aid, but how can any of you possibly think the Bucs or Fish would trade Bay or Cabrera? Miguel Cabrera only makes 472K, he could be the best bargain in all of baseball. Bay makes $1M, still a relative bargain. Plus, these guys are arguably the best players on their team. I cannot see any feasible chance for a deal involving either guy, even with Hendry's suppsoed mind control. Your best bet is Tony Clark. He can play 1B and OF (I think), is a bench guy in AZ, and the DBacks would probably take 2 or 3 mid level prospects for him to unload his $1M salary. Plus, I think he's only on a one year deal. Another option would be Sox killer Mike Sweeney, he makes $11M ($12.5M if traded), and has the Cubs as one of 8 teams he'd accept a trade to. But,I think his OF skills are bad, and there's 2 years left on his deal, and while he may be easy to acquire, he'd be an awful pricy band-aid. |

nastradamus wrote: Mike Sweeney? Too much money, plus he is used to not playing for anything. I think he likes it. Ring-a-friggin-ding! That's an unbelievably astute comment. Why else would he want to stay in KC and rot? Good call Nasdynasty. |

The Cub have to play the hand they have for 3 months. They just have to "endeavor to persevere". |

Guys, no team is going to make a trade this early in the season. Alot of them still think they have a chance and it would be stupid to trade the guys you mentioned now anyway. These teams will wait for the trading deadline when the demand is up and they can get more in return. Why should they take whatever the Cubs offer when in a couple of months 5 or 6 teams will be bidding against each other. |

With all due respect, Do you really think that the Royals believe that they have a chance? And the Cubs may have prospects that they really want, that's why they for instance may make a deal now. |

You don't make a deal out of desperation in APRIL. |

Ok yes the Royals know they are done. But the D'backs certainly think they still have a shot in that week division. Flordia knows they are done but they are building for the future and maybe they want to keep those guys. Plus who do the Cubs have besides Pie. I don't think Hendry wants to unload him just to get a stop gap guy. Like I said any of these teams will get more in a couple months then they would by trading a guy now. |

I am going to dip my nuts in the Cubbie Kool Aid as well. Here is the type of guy that you are going to get: Ross Gload from the Sox for that rookie reliever they just called up. |
