SHARK has learned that 670 The SCORE will announce Monday plans for a "SCORE Search 2", sponsored by Mountain Dew. Last year's inaugural "SCORE Search" was the search for the CBS Radio-owned sports talker's newest sports reporter, and was won by Connor McKnight. According to what I have learned on the new look 670thescore.com, the second annual "SCORE Search" will be searching for a new "Weekend Overnight Host". This position would like fill the time currently occupied by Los Angeles-based Sporting News Radio during the wee hours on Saturday & Sunday mornings. More details on the audition process to be officially announced Monday. |

Gotta think that this makes Rock, Joe O., Goff, Abbatacola, Baldey, Jay Z. and others really happy. |

I know they're safe as far as producing, but I've gotta think some of those guys have entertained ideas of doing shows late at night. |

"The JoeO & Rock Show" with Joe Ostrowski & John "Rock" Mamola airs this Saturday 10p-1a (Time Approximate due to White Sox/Royals Game) on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. I mention those guys in particular, because just because they're supposed to end at say Midnight or 1a doesn't mean they will... |

Cool, can't wait to hear some more live reads for the Illinois Center for Broadcasting (or whatever the name of the school is that drinky tells everyone to go to if they, too, want to be on sports talk radio like him). I just love the ridiculous nature of pimping some school to help you get a radio gig WHILE also doing a station contest to win a job (on sports talk radio). |

Quote: Last year's inaugural "SCORE Search" was the search for the CBS Radio-owned sports talker's newest sports reporter, and was won by Connor McKnight. More importantly, he won SHARK's heart. |

There's a good chance Connor's doing "Scoreboard Updates" during Laurence's full 4 hour nighttime show on The SCORE tonight. I also won't be shocked if LoHo, Joe Ostrowski, Chris Tannehill, Herb Lawrence and whoever is producing gives Connor a hard time as the night progresses... |

Shakes, the position is for a "Weekend Overnight Host", likely during the wee hours Saturday & Sunday when the Grobber isn't scheduled to work. Think of what Bob Valvano does on ESPN Radio...Bob, of course, is the brother of former North Carolina State head basketball coach and ESPN analyst Jim Valvano. Moment of silence please for Jimmy V. Thank you. |

I hope they use this search to find someone who is not in the industry or studying to be in the industry. While it might be their "dream job" as well, they could pursue it through the normal routes. The dream job should be for a North type who has talent but if not for this break could not hope to get a chance due to lack of education or another job. |

Actually, I won't be surprised to see North actually enter the contest! His days at Ch. 2 are numbered and as we've seen, the guy is facing some money problems. |

Speaking of Chip Egan, he actually posted a message earlier today on Larz's popular ChicagolandRadioandMedia.com, where you also find my posts from time to time. Shameless plug aside, Chip didn't seem that confident that he'd have a chance to win "SCORE Search 2" after losing out to Connor last summer at 115 Bourbon St. |

I think this would be a great opportunity for someone, just as I thought the Pepsi Score Search contest last year was. I had a great time being involved. The reason why I don't think I'd have a chance this time around is because of where I finished last year. I doubt that I would be someone they would consider after having been a runner-up the year before. I think this woud be a "new blood" type of thing and I don't believe bringing back someone from last season is in the cards. Following last year's contest Mitch told me to stay in touch as there might be something I could be involved with. I figured that since I had worked in the business for a number of years (15), this might give me the chance to get back into a field I left several years before. I thought I performed well enough during the remote to possibly win the competition, but when I didn't I felt somewhat consoled by the fact that Mitch said he wantted to talk to me about possible fill-in opportunities. A number of phone calls and emails went un-returned-after his telling me to do so- and after a while I felt like a college kid who got the run-around after hearing back from a station he applied to. As a result, I figured that with the new contest I wouldn't have a chance. Please don't get me wrong. I was greatly appreciative of the chance to make it as far as I did and finish in second place. I was really encouraged by the kind things people wrote on this board about me at the time and I was truly excited to be able to "represent" the board. Despite a posting on the chicagolandradioandmedia.com message board a few days before the live remote took place that stated the powers that be already had determined who the winner of the contest would be, I still felt I had a shot at winning the contest. It didn't turn out that way and that's the way things go. |

Chip, that's how Mitch operates. I've heard the same complaint from a number of people about him not returning calls. I've got a better chance of winning the lottery than winning this contest. If I showed up it would be like Shrek trying to win a beauty contest. |

If I win the lottery and dont have to maintain a real job I will go 100% after this position! Yes, I am going out on a limb here! |
