If Pinella bailed early on the Cubs, you can bet North would have ripped him!

Meanwhile, don't look for co-hosts Mike North and Dan Jiggetts on Channel 2's early morning "Monsters & Money in the Morning" for its final two weeks. Both are taking vacation time due them. The remaining two co-hosts, Sun-Times financial columnist Terry Savage and Mike Hegedus, plan to be with the show until it ends Aug. 27. "We're trying to end the show in the same spirit in which it debuted," a WBBM spokeswoman said.

Reached Monday as he was enjoying his paid time-off, North said he had a "great deal of respect" for everyone at Channel 2, despite the station's decision to cancel "Monsters & Money," a round-table show that emphasized talk about sports and finance.

WBBM management hoped viewers would take to "Monsters & Money's" unconventional early morning format. But the show's ratings were terrible, and some viewers were upset that one or more of the four co-hosts were too often absent -- a complaint that will apparently haunt the show until the very end.

Late last week WBBM said it will debut a new, as-yet-unnamed early morning show with a more traditional mix of news, features, weather and traffic on Aug. 30, starting at 4:30 a.m. Steve Bartelstein will anchor the new show, and Megan Glaros has signed on to do weather.

this should not surprise anyone. mike north is a primadona. he still thinks he should be making $1 mil/yr. even though he can't pull in any ratings. i'm sure he will show up on roe conn and talk about how great the show was and that it just wasn't given a great time slot and how cbs didn't support the show and give it enough time. then he will say that he is in discussion with numerous outlets for a new show, blah blah blah. its funny how in every comment section of each article about the show being cancelled, most comments are about how much the person hates mike north and never want to see him or hear from him again.

But program directors all across Chicago know better than the vocal majority.

That's another key to TV. Especially for a morning program. You have to hire good looking people. People that are photogenic. People don't want to look at this crew. The few times I watched this show, Jiggs looked confused, Savage looked angry, the other guy looked weird and Pappy looked stupid. Plus none of them are attractive.

Love that the lower third says "Small Company Succeeding"....the irony.

Perhaps there is a logical explanation for them not being there; that it would a two week death march with people whining on the air and taking shots at management. I don't believe Jiggs would do that, but you can be sure that North would. Maybe Mike was told that his last day would be last Friday, he took his shots and management figured to make it easier and have Jiggs sit on the sideline as well. Vacation time is an easy to use excuse, and CBS figures to let them say whatever they want and just move on from a the senility that allowed them to put that mess on the air.

Two things I noticed right away. First, there was a Dan Jiggetts sighting on Comcast SportsNet early Sunday morning. "Jiggs" was doing the Midnight "SportsNite", which gets rerun as "SportsRise" the next morning. Second, ex-CNBC reporter Mike Hedegus was in the host chair the last 2 mornings on the final days of "Monsters & Money". Talk about awkward!

By the way, folks. It's going to take a lot more than hiring Megan Glaros to do weather and entertainment on CBS2's replacement morning show starting August 30th to get the station back on track.

Beni, CBS2 needs to do a lot more than hiring Megan & Kate Sullivan from WCBS-New York to get back on track...You need a scorecard to keep up with all the changes at WBBM since the early '90s.

Completely agree SHARK. WBBM is currently utilizing the eye candy scorecard. Megan rates higher than Terry Savage et al. :thumright:
