The reason it is going to take 2-3 weeks to release the deal is because he is working on what % he will get from selling his own time. It's an attractive package to any media guy/manager! A guy who has an incentive to make the station more money is a great thing. Once again, everyone loses sight of the part of working on a better show? |

Right BF, but he aint going to make shit on this. He doesnt have the sponsors needed for the money he wants...unless I am missing the point. As far as the 300 markets, not good, now the country will know he is from here. |

You know he has been talking to someone at FOX sports for months now. Papi has been famous for one thing now, jumping ship way before it starts taking on water. |

Is North bringing "The Bookie Priest" & Licorice (Woof!) with him to his new gig at FOX Sports Radio? |

I have no idea of what the $$$ would be and would like to hear some guesses. I do disagree with BF, though. On a national terrestrial radio show, there are both national and local market spots available. I don't think North has any contacts willing to buy national exposure on his show and because FSN has no local outlet, there is no reason for any of Mike's loyal advertisers to buy into his show. As far as XM, I will guess that he will draw less Chicago area XM listeners than the CBS fiasco had viewers. All in all, you have to hand it to him - he has a job in broadcasting. There are many on-air vets that have been unemployed for a while. One thing you have to give North credit for is that he is a survivor. |

Give it 8-12 months, fail, on to something else. He hasn't had success with anything in 7 years, this isn't going to be any different. Lets not forget, pappys dream of working for a national station was something he said he would never do because the stations would be lining up for him if he ever left the score. How did that work out? Listen, I hope he does well, but it goes back to what I have been saying for a long time, as long as he has control of the gig, it will be bad..lol |

Quote: One thing you have to give North credit for is that he is a survivor. Sure, its just amazing PD's out there who dont do a bit more research on who they are hiring. |

So he'll make a million? Didnt he say thats what he deserved? I thought he was bringing back the webio. When are they taking his house? How does he continue to sell himself with that resume? |

Now, he's going to have to talk national sports? How long does that last until he starts sharing with his audience where he ate for dinner last night, and how wonderful his wife and dog are? |

BTW, are there podcasts for Fox Sports Radio shows? I don't think so, but would be curious to check in on this after a month or so. |

As I think about this a little, this is probably good for North, to get out of Chicago. There's a decent chance that his schtick might play on a national level. Have you heard what passes for satellite sports radio shows? Chicago has heard all the rants and craziness before, it's old but now he can say ridiculous things about other stuff he doesn't know anything about and get people all riled up. Might work. |

Exactly. 90% of satellite sports radio is damned by being neither good nor bad, which results in no need to listen. Still, it's going to take a return to his roots to produce quality and I have a feeling FSN will give him full control of his show, including content and staff. Staff may be small, but they will let him at least hire a producer and he'll get himself some interns. There is no way FSN is going to waste time hiring his staff in a remote location. They'll give him a budget and tell him to do it himself so...welcome back Jen Jen and the best rolodex in the country. I imagine she will even get an on air role on the show to boost the pay a little more. With that, we are back to square one of this problem. |

Why does everyone think he will have his own show? This talentless hack will be paired up with someone or just thrown on another show. According to Feder, Jeff Schwartz got the deal done. My guess, north begging someone to help. Desperate, and Kirk is wrong, no big money on this deal, once again. http://blogs.vocalo.org/feder/2010/08/% ... ment-29157 |

i guess pappy is going to have to show us his w2 in 8 months when he gets fired. i dont care how much he makes or doesnt make, i just find it funny that mr. every station needs a millon dollar guy has put himself in this spot. he is the one who said he would have a job at the same money in no time, well, no and thats what i am calling him out on. i dislike pappy because he is a self absorbed, lyiing, back stabbing prick who screwed as many people as he could to profit him, so now, when he is bottom feeding for anything, yea, i am enjoying it. |

North's not taking anyone's spot out of that group. Fox Sports Radio link thingy Not to mention, if he's doing anything national, which newspaper will he need to have on hand to get his sports knowledge? Who's the guy that looked like he walked off the set of Spies Like Us? |

I honestly think north called Schwartz in desperation to help him anyway possible because he knew there was no way he would get another shot in Chicago. He's burned too many people with his promises of bringing in sponsors, delivering ratings and being an asshole to everyone when things didn't go his way. Always blamed others. This isn't his big chance, he's filler. He really needs any paycheck he can get. |

Don - "Isn't this the guy who got conned in that webio ponzi scheme? " Space - "He used to make $1 mil./yr at the Score in Chicago. Don - " Why did he get let go if he is such a great personality?" Space - " The show was never promoted" Don - " You will owe me big time if I hire this clown, ok?" Space - "wait till my guy brings in some bigtime sponsors like Notre Dame" Don - " Wait, the University of ND will be one of his sponsors? Space - "No, ND HS in niles , IL will be a local sponsor, they will pay us $75/live read" Don - "We can give him $9.75/hr and after 90 days, if he gets a good review, we can bump him to $10.25/hr. No benefits and he has to clean the studio in chicago himself, Ok? Space - "We'll take it. " |
