from the "its like a ventriloquist on the radio" department -
we will have runners on the radio:

The 2006 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon will take place Sunday, October 22, starting and finishing in Chicago’s historic Grant Park. The Race will be broadcast live on CBS 2 CHICAGO and WSCR-AM The Score 670.

Riveting radio at it's best.

All it needs is North doing the remote.

I never understood this. Does anyone care what is going on during the marathon unless there is some tragedy that begs for coverage, like a runner getting mugged or something? What is there interesting about jogging, that can be relayed to a radio audience? Does the Score, or ESPN when they had it in past years, think that the Nigerians who win have family listening over the internet or something?

The best part of it is that now that it's on the score I won't be robbed of Fantasy Football Isle!

This is akin to WGN broadcasting the Air and Water Show.

"Wow! Look at that plane!"

"Yeah, that's something else!"

Kudos Dallas, I actually laughed out loud at that

It is also just like another broadcast on WGN:

"Well Ronny, what did you think of that?"

"Well Pat, you can see on the replay right there what happened."

As someone who did a handful of 50 milers (that's almost twice the regular marathon distance) I have to say - NOTHING. Chicago Marathon is a mockery of a sport that used to have a cult status.

Did you walk to Wrigley and hand Santo a pair of legs?

They should just broadcast the World Cup, they'd get better ratings than they currently do anyways
