When you tune into Comcast SportsNet starting Monday, you might notice some cosmetic, on air changes. According to ChicagolandRadioandMedia.com, the regional sports network is going to unveil quite a few changes that viewers will certainly notice the minute Joe Fan tunes in.

For starters, "SportsRise", "SportsDay" & "SportsNite" will soon be no more. CSN will rename its sports news shows as "SportsNet Central", similar to CSN regionals in New England & San Francisco/Bay Area. The name change alone will give its sports news shows a more uniform feel throughout the day. The current CSN anchors & reporters, Pat Boyle, Mark Schanowski, Chuck Garfien, Luke Stuckmeyer, Kip Lewis, Chris Boden, Gail Fischer, Jen Patterson, Sarah Kustok & David Kaplan, will continue to anchor the rebranded "Central".

Viewers will also notice a new graphics package for all live, locally-produced games on the regional sports network, complete with new animation & a new look "score bug", complete with even more enhanced statistical information & flashier transitions.

One thing viewers will notice right away is a new-look set for "PreGame/PostGame Live". The new set looks like the Starship Enterprise from "Star Trek" in my opinion, but the larger, redesigned set is supposed to give a better ability for stand-up reports from the show's anchor, along with enhanced monitors to show highlights, stats, scores & more. If you're tuning in come 5p this afternoon for "Cubs PreGame Live" before the unusual start time for their series finale in San Diego, you might know what I'm referring.

So they are getting a new studio? Does that explain why they have been doing pre and post game shows from the chairs like they are in a hotel waiting area?

You are correct, Spmack. The reason why CSN had been doing "PreGame/PostGame Live" from the "Chicago Tribune Live" set the last 2 weeks or so was because they were renovating the other set. If you go to CSNchicago.com right now and the White Sox page, they've got the inaugural "Meltie" Awards, and one of the "Awards" is what Bill wore not once, not twice, but three times on the "CTL" set. Dockers should give Bill a call right now after he finishes off one of those Aurelio's Pizzas he's been hawking on the White Sox Radio Network...

I once had a tryout on the old Sports Channel set. I wish I could have won that desk in an auction.

She was a young, up and coming sportscaster at the time. I refuse to disgrace her name with assumptions.
