From Feder in today's Sun-Times.

Quote:
*It can't be a good sign when a failing morning show loses one of its few connections to its home market: Chicago radio veteran Joe Bartosch has resigned after five months as producer of Shane "Rover" French's morning show at CBS Radio "Free FM" talker WCKG-FM (105.9).

Bartosch says he's seeking another opportunity in town.

Good for Bartosch......he took way too much crap from them. I use to listen to Joe when he was on WGN friday or saturday nights way back when.

I liked Joe and enjoyed his Sunday night show.
Maybe he is the one coming back to the Score to work with Mike on his shitfest. I say get rid of Anne and bring in Joe, couldn't hurt.

I always thought he could do a weekend night sports show and take an hour or so and mix in what he did back then.........kinda like "This day in sports and music from 1978 or whenever" a little old music and old sports talk.

Was the person returning supposed to be on-air talent or a producer? Maybe Buchman's on the way out and the rudderless ship will soon be steered by Capt. Bartosh.

Good ol Joe got himself a mention on Stern this morning for being the executive producer who jumped off the sinking ship. Stern said that cant be a good sign for the show.

Stern, eh? The word's out there. Maybe that's good for Joe's benefit. As far as Rover, his show doesn't seem like the place to be these days.

For those of you who listen or dont, Stern rails aganist CBS at any sign of bad news. He quotes Feder's column a lot whenever anything bad is happening with Rover. He has long said give him a chance, but did say it cant be good when your producer wants out after only 5 months. So, it wasnt a oh I hear the great Joe Bartosch is out as producer, just quoting from the Bright One.

My claim was that Bartosch was coming back to the Score, but have no idea what he will be doing.

Just knew he was leaving rover

Heard Bartosch today (Sat. morning). In his usual form, good to hear. From the chatter, it sounded like his first stint back after a while.

I heard him on Rover yesterday on "Dare Dieter," so he must've come back.

Yeah, I heard him doing the updates for the Baum & Olken show this morning. Maybe he's easing into something...

Rover hasn't been given a fair chance in this city. Excluding satellite radio, who has a better morning show? Possibly Brandmeier, but certainly not Mike North, or Mike and Mike. Chicago is not quick to accept "outsiders", which is why has-beens like Steve Dahl are still on our airwaves.

He's had ample time to prove he sucks. Go back to Cleveland and don't let the state hit you in the ass!

Your "outsider" arguement is bullshit, because that's what both Brandmeier and Dahl were when they arrived here.

Speaking of Dahl, is he what he used to be? No. Is he still 30? Again no? The guy has aged, sobered up, and mellowed. It happens. He gets a pass from me for "body of work", and for being a part of the best line up in Chicago radio history.

I gave him a shot. It sucked. I'm sure the show appeals to people watching "The Fresh Prince of Belair" reruns but that's not a large group. The "Shizzy", come on you like that? Ultimately, I don't want to hear Dieter and Dujii debate issues on dating, politics, social issues... Then if their opinions aren't stupid enough, they take a caller from Kentucky who gives his story or opinion. It's like Jerry Springer on radio. I'll take Johnny B or M&M over it anyday.
