Written by Larz Monday, 04 October 2010 10:49 Beginning next weekend, another sports-themed program is joining WIND-AM's weekend schedule. "Bearly Legal" starring former Chicago Bear Robin Earl and Chicago attorney David Spada. The weekly one-hour show talks about hot sports subjects and legal issues in sports, along with interviews of current & former athletes. Robin Earl is a nine year veteran of professional football -- seven years with the NFL's Chicago Bears (1977-1983), followed by two years with the USFL's Birmingham Stallions (1984-1985). David Spada graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Loyola University, followed by earning his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School. He worked for various law firms before opening up Spada Law Offices. The "Bearly Legal" show began in November 2008. Robin Earl, who was a frequent guest on WSCR-AM & Comcast SportsNet, was a client of David Spada, who is a huge sports fanatic. The two hit it off and decided to try doing a show together, combining their love of sports and their love of media. It was Chicago radio sales/programming guru Jeff Schwartz who came up with the clever name of "Bearly Legal" for the show. The program was initially backed by Mike North's company and aired live on TalkZone.com, the Chicago-based Internet talk radio & podcast network, who also hosted archived podcasts of the "Bearly Legal" shows. Additionally, podcasts of the show appeared on the WSCR-AM website for a short while. Unlike many sports talk shows that just have hosts talk among themselves or talk with newspaper reporters who just repeat what they wrote earlier, "Bearly Legal" speaks with famous athletes who talk about sports from an insider view and share their memories. In the less than two years the show has been broadcasting, Earl & Spada have interviewed some of the biggest names in sports including Dick Butkis, Mike Ditka, Bart Starr, Art Donovan, Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins, Warren Moon, Marv Levy, Lamarr Hoyt and Steve McMichael. Co-host David Spada tells CRM that "the show has been a dream come true" for him. The show has been with TalkZone.com since its debut on November 7th, 2008. Beginning this weekend, the "Bearly Legal" show moves to WIND-AM, starting at Midnight, immediately following WIND's simulcast of the "Mike North Show" from FOX Sports Radio on Sunday nights. This weekend's show will feature guests Alan Page, Joe Delamielleure, and Gino Marchetti -- all members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The show will air on AM 560 each Sunday night/Monday morning from Midnight-1:00am. Also Big Fan I need you to resend a new password. |

That's great that they wrote this about your show. Too bad they had to put north's name in their twice. |

So David, on your show, since it's sports talk focused, do YOU actually talk about sports? Or every time it's your turn to talk do you pimp who's coming up on your next show like you do on a certain sports talk focused message board? I can hear it now Some old Bear: "Yeah, and that's really what they need to do to shore up the offensive line. What do you think David?" Spada: "Coming up next week on Bearly Legal, former Cub Doug Dascenzo, former Bull Granville Waiters and Hawks star Jeff Shantz" Other Old Bear: "uhhhhhh what's not what he asked you" Spada: "And the week after that, Rick Wilkins, Shawn Hillegas and Gary Woods will break down the MLB Playoffs!" Old Bull "Who is this guy????" Spada: "Larz wrote nice things about me!!!" (gunshot sound) Old Bear "much better, now back to the O-Line......" |

Spada has to jazz up his guest lists now that he is on REAL radio. Starting with his next show,he will only interview former NFL'ers who played AFTER the creation of the facemask. |
