They'll probably just give it back to Kaplan. |

They should get rid of that conservative talk show host Mike McConnell who came from Cincinnati. That guy with a rich middle aged white man republican talking points point of view from a confrontational style doesn't work for the Chicago market on WGN. Put him on 560 AM and I am sure he will do fine with that audience but not on WGN. |

The issue with Murph is when he talking basketball, football, hockey, chess, checkers, etc... he is still talking about the cubs. |

Rongey does a weekly Sox show in the off-season, and Im sure it's riveting... |

Wouldn't Murph be too much of a loose cannon talking cubs on WGN though? You can't have him blowing a gasket over Nady taking at bats away from Colvin right before the game you want everyone to continue listening too. |

WGN Radio 720 has made some very questionable moves in recent months, not the least of which were the controversial hirings of Kevin "Pig Vomit" Metheny as Program Director and CONVICTED FELON, ex-City Clerk Jim Laski hosting on non-Blackhawks & Cubs' gamenights at the Tribune-owned news/talker. Metheny's the same guy who told midday duo Judy Markey & Kathy O'Malley to get lost, let alone took funnyman Steve Cochran off the air in the manner he did...IN THE MEN'S ROOM! The station has also undergone several head-scratching monikers as well under Metheny's watch. NEWS 720 WGN? What the hell does that mean? |

I saw someone on FB comment that it would be perfect for Nick D. I'm still in the camp that he's being held on to when Steve and Johnny decide to leave,. he gets overnights. I dont see him being a particularly good host for 7-10. |

It was how he was removed that many had a huge problem with..."Pig Vomit's" people skills absolutely sucked! |

And his rambling, sometimes goofy, style is better suited for overnights where you have to fill large stretchs of time for people who aren't invested in a topic. He doesn't sound as good during day time shifts for that very reason. |

You're right, you can't do those during the day with all the news/weather/traffic/sports updates and shit. It was like that w/ John Williams/Spike O'Dell and the morning shift. They were just looser, better, in the afternoons. |

It was how he was removed that many had a huge problem with..."Pig Vomit's" people skills absolutely sucked! SHARK, famed "shock jock" Howard Stern, formerly of WNBC and WNBC.com, coined the phrase "Pig Virus" to describe Metheny. "Pig Vomit" was a character in the 1997 movie "Private Parts". This character was a "composite character" which combined Metheny and John "The Incubus" Hayes (Metheny's replacement at WNBC) and was portrayed by actor Paul Giamatti, son of former baseball commissioner Angelo Bartlett "Bart" Giamatti. |

Thank fuck. Laski was brutal, tone and content. I'm also sick of reading Feder and Ebert columns about how far WGN done fell 'cause of Metheny. |
