Outside of their morning baseball shows, 1000's got nothing. What happened to all the savings that they made from not bidding on the Sox or Bulls, and weren't those supposed to go for more talent on the station?

Or did all that money go to get Sean Dinglebury?

I was thinking about this listening to Goff/Abbatacola the other night. Good show, much improved, but I don't catch the evening weekend shows as much as the late afternoon--- and I really don't want to listen to In the Huddle or Gameday or any of that Bristol crap.

They mirror WSCR's local shows on the weekend.

I'd rather listen to a ball sack get pus drained from it than Baum/Olken

I think Space just realized the crap options he has. Plus there are sports being played all afternoon long including our baseball teams. He figured Bristol's crap is cheaper and will get the same amount of listeners. ESPN also does the Sunday Night baseball and they have had the NBA playoffs as well.

How is broadcasting the Bristol crap cheaper when you've already got guys like Dickerson and J Hood sitting at home doing nothing? Aren't these guys salaried? Why not put them to use...even if they are odd shifts that move around on the weekend schedule? I used to think MVP's lineup was pretty solid, even on the weekends...not so much these days.

Dickerson is probrally salaried. He does updates and 1 weekend show. I'm guessing a guy like Hood is contracted per show. He must be because you never hear him anymore. He's only on when Mac and Harry are suspended subbing for the 7-10 shift.

Ike, I agree. Since they hired Salisbury the entire station has suffered as far as programming goes in my opinion. The statio was really strgon before the Salisbury move. i dont listen as much because of it. I wish Hood was on more...

I also agree that ESPN 1000 should have more local weekend programming, as well as weeknight programming after 10:00 that would compete with the White Sox postgame on most nights (J. Hood has experience in that area).

Speaking of the White Sox, I'm sure there will be Sunday afternoon games in September that preempt Doug and OB's Bears postgame, which would give ESPN 1000 an opportunity to create a new local weekend show (at least for the fall and winter).

It's the old sports adage...they might be goofs, but they're OUR goofs. MVP doesn't feel like a Chicago station. Bringing Salisbury onboard certainly hasn't helped. I don't know if it's germane to this thread, but Seannie's interloping def. has marked a new low for the station. This was about the weekend schedule, but the weekday sked has suffered, too. Too bad.

Would rather have an option to hear JD and Hood (and hell, throw Mongo in too if they must) on a Sat. or Sunday afternoon rather than Gameday crap.

Don't listen to much radio on weekends, except when driving to-and-from places, but the Baseball 365, Talking Baseball, and that stupid Baseball show with the old guy, Piersall, needs to go.

One baseball show is enough, already.
