Post subject:  BRUCE LEVINE PUTS ON A SUNDRESS

Rumply old Bruce Levine has forfeited whatever small credibility he might have had with his smooching of Jim Hendry's butt on WMVP Saturday morning. Littering the airwaves with flowery adjectives like "glorious",Levine once again but his own interests ahead of the listeners who would have loved at least one semi-tough question addressed to the sleep Cubs GM. Instead,Hendry was treated like the Cubs are the Chicago team that is prospering and Hendry is the architect of their success. Really,Levine's utter incompetence is a black mark on the whole station. I enjoy Mac,Jurko & Harry but the fact that they make a production out of Levine's appearances on their show ("Bruuuuuuuuce!") and call him "the best in the business" reflects poorly on them as well. If Levine doesn't want to serve his listeners in the interest of preserving his press pass, maybe it's time he got a job with Hallmark where his knack for composing love notes can be better utilized.

I don't think that reporters should have their own shows, as it is a conflict of interest. Bruce may be a good reporter, but his closeness to the team hinders his ability to really criticize them. Jim Hendry will only go on the weekend shows hosted by reporters who will not ask difficult questions.

Heard him talking to Dusty today and let me paraphrase but
"Dusty I don't know of any manager that could have done a better job this year with what you have had to work with."

WTF is he talking about?

How much worse could he have done? They have scored the least amount of runs and are 2 games from having the worst record in baseball?

He has an even worse conflict of interest: he is a paid contibutor of Vineline, which is the Cubs in house fan newspaper.

Professional ethics dictates that he announce this conflict every time he reports on the Cubs. Levineline does not.

Yankee injuries: Sheffield, Matsui, Jeter (earlier), Cano, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, etc

Yankee record in a much tougher AL in a city where the media is much more critical and expectations are higher: 46-33. And yes, there have been times throughout the year where it seemed heads would fly. Dusty blaming injuries and not taking responsibility is bush league
