It looks like there might be changes planned at both WSCR & WMPV.

WMVP says lineup shuffle only for this week; gains in February ratings

Posted by Ed S. at 3/23/2011 1:58 AM CDT on Chicago Business

Is WMVP-AM/1000 pulling a lineup switch?
This week, Carmen DeFalco, co-host of "The Afternoon Saloon," has been on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the midday crew of Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman has handled 2 to 6 p.m. duties.
Hmm. Did I miss the announcement?
No, said program director Adam Delevitt. With "Afternoon Saloon" regulars John Jurkovic on vacation and Harry Teinowitz on the sidelines with personal issues, the ESPN-owned station thought it would be best to use "Waddle & Silvy" in the afternoon.
Some changes are possible since WMVP has trailed WSCR-AM/670 in the ratings for a while, although the WSCR's lost some of its lead in February. In the all-important men ages 25-54 demographic, WSCR ranked fourth with a 4.1 audience share, while WMVP was eighth at 3.6. In January, SCR had a 5.3-3.8 lead.
ESPN's national "Mike & Mike" morning show also posted its first victory in a while, topping SCR's "Mully & Hanley" 4.9 to 4.3. Having "Mike & Mike" live at the Super Bowl obviously helped. "Mully & Hanley" have won 16 of the last 19 months.
"Saloon" also narrowed the margin in afternoon drive. SCR's Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein had a 5.0, compared with 4.6 for "Saloon." The SCR lead was 5.9 to 4.2 in January.
In middays, "The Danny Mac Show" had a 4.8, compared with 4.3 for "Waddle and Silvy."
WMVP is hoping to ride some of the Bulls' momentum as the team's radio outlet. Wednesday, Neil Funk and Stacey King will join Mr. DeFalco from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Then Friday, Chuck Swirsky and Bill Wennington will team with Jeff Dickerson in the same shift.

At best, it will be a slight ratings bump for the week or two this "personal issue" sidelines Tiny. Beyond that, WSCR will be fine.

One would think the Bulls would help ESPN on a huge level.

Or maybe those "Live from the AA meeting remotes" will be big.

What if your show didn't have enough billboards?

It's pretty telling that North lost to them for virtually the entire time he was on the air and Mully and Hanley quickly regained supremacy.

I don't think Mully and Hanley will be around at this time next year.

I think the entire WSCR prime time lineup could change. I am hopeful that this happens & that Hanley, Spiegel & Boers all go bye bye, & Goff, Drinky & Gavin get regular gigs. Ok, Gavin was a joke.
As much as I would like to see Larry get the boot, Mitch wont get rid o him.

Wishful thinking...Laurence Holmes isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He signed a 2 year extension with the SCORE, and announced it about a week to 10 days ago at the start of his nighttime show.

Nope. Just the same recycled bull shit and when somebody calls him out on it he runs and hides. Tis the life of JOHN KIRK.

I wonder about the negativity over Mully and Hanley. They beat Mike & Mike 16/19 times, they dug the show out of the hole North left it in. I gather you don't like them, but why do you think they'll be gone within a year?

Geez, if anything, I'd think the Sun-Times evaporates and these guys are full-time hosts, possibly connected a sports-related news site. (As reporters, columnists, whatever.) So long as it isn't for the guys whose articles are always a countdown of some sort (5 reasons Peyton Manning doesn't suck -- with pictures!!!)

Good point Beebo. I only get to hear these guys about 10 minutes each morning and while they don't
have the most exciting show I don't think they are horrible. Local should always beat up on Mike and
Mike. Those guys are just awful.

Hmmm...So the Scores lead was better in January. What was going on in January that would have been of interest to local sports fans? February, on the other hand, is typically a hotbed for local sports interest. Mr. Sherman is quite the reporter.

WSCR has Lauren Holmes, Rock and his incredibly forced hArDcOrE contrarian stance on everything, and Bernstein wannabes/soundalikes Ostrowski/McKnight. Usually these alone would be cause enough to never listen again, but worse things happen down the dial.

I have noticed less White Sox pre-season games pre-empting B&B - by design I assume.

Pre-season baseball after the starters are pulled isn't worth listening to, no matter what team is playing.

I kinda like Mully. For the life of me though I cant figure out how Hanley has managed to stay employed at the Score for so long. If I'm not mistaken, he's one of the original WSCR hosts from day one in 1992, right? Maybe not. He is as vanilla & uninteresting as a host can get.

I agree with you....I think it also kills ratings in that 25-54 demo.

Not saying anything beats having nothing to say and saying it anyway-- over and over ad infinitum in your sad case.
