JD is always the first guy off the bench. They are giving Copock alot of air shifts. Hell, Gail Fisher is even being called in for 2 days next week to sub for Rosenbloom while Steve goes to cover poker. That would be a sign when somebody who doesn't work for the station gets an air shift over the employed back up. |

Hopefully the person who is eventually named as Schwartz's permanent replacement sees Hood's value and gives him a regular shift (even if it's just weekends). He seems to have burned his bridges at the Score, so if he doesn't stick at ESPN 1000, I'm guessing he won't work in this city again anytime soon. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but he has been underused and underappreciated at ESPN 1000. |

If he's done in Chicago, would anyone notice? Chicago radio would be better for it. |

I've written before that I've thought he is horrible. Comes across as a phony to me. Nas must be on his honeymoon because he hasn't come to Hood's defense yet. LOL. |

I'll pinch hit for Nas. I am a fan of Hood. I liked him most when he hosted nights back on the Score, and when he talked college football with Steve Silverman. Unfortunatly, the Telender debacle seemed to have fucked with his psyche, and to me he's never been the same since. He seems to be bitter, mean spirited, defensive, and hostile towards callers. I even called into his Score show once (for high school holla of all things), and he was friendly, and engaging. And I was surprised how long he let me talk. I don't know what happened to that Hood. I don't hear him anymore. If he's still harboring resentments, he needs to get over it. If not, he's gonna be taking calls about the Bucks and Brewers. Or worse, the Bradley Braves. All that said, if he does get canned, then my 2006 prediction from that section will have come true. |

Looks like the J-Hood bashing continues and for no reason at that. Why can't you impotent saturated fat hog faced chumps understand and realize Hood is one of the most knowledgable sports hosts in the city, if not the most. He can touch on just about any subject and his phone ettiquite is getting better with seasoning. Score fucked up and now ESPN is fondling thier funky balls messing around with his livelyhood, career and life right now. He should be manning the main drive dropping sports knowledge not a couple of prissy little girlyboys fighting on the air over completely retarded shit. So you little J-Hood haters can fallback and fuck your mothers. |

While everybody likes to say Hood knows sports. I have never heard evidence. He states the obvious and just kills time saying things like. "The Cubs need to score runs". I don't think it is a coincidence that his bosses at two stations have come to this conclusion. Yes management puts lousy shows on both stations but Hood is one of the worst and both stations have realizied it. |

i'm in the pro-Hood camp... i don't know, i thought he was more arrogant and bad to callers on WSCR, and he's mellowed post-Telander. what happened to his old pard' Silverman, btw? |

I don’t think that’s been scratched, necessarily. Silvio is strictly football. His baseball & basketball coverage is trainwreck central. He’s a 4 month-a-year guy. I’d expect he’ll be back on the air in August. |

I heard Coppock say that he is going to be on board for NFL Sunday coverage. He's probrally going to take over for Carmen on the Sunday preview show. Coppock is doing Notre Dame on Saturdays. ESPN 1000 has been going with there national guys for College coverage and I don't think they'll change and give it to Hood. |

Yes. That's why Chet's been appearing on Roe Conn lately. |

thanks, I did wonder why he was on with Roe. I listened to Roe when MJH were on vacation and suspended. There is no possible way I can listen to B&B, and C&S just aren't entertaining to me. |

Nas said on another thread that he thought Hood was in trouble when Space left. But Hood's role was nothing even when Space was there. The perfect example is Sunday "talking baseball" show. Who did Space give it too? Carmen, a full time weekday host. At the time Carmen was in the meaningful 9-12 spot. If Space thought highly of Hood don't you think he would have thrown him that Sunday baseball show? |

Why did ESPN 1000 hire Hood if they weren't going to use him? My guess is that they intended for him to be a permanent host of the evening show (he was for a while with JD and Mongo), but those plans changed once management decided to hire Salisbury. Since Silvy and Carmen's ratings improved during their final ratings period in middays, they had to find a place for them, so they moved their show to evenings instead. I'm sure JD and Mongo will continue to be part of the station's Bears coverage, but it looks like Hood will be the odd man out. It's too bad the station doesn't have local programming late nights or weekend afternoons because Hood would be a perfect fit. |

If you recall Hood was initially hired as the morning update guy. He was horrible at it and they quickly took that away from him. I don't think he took that job to serious. He thought he was big time and wanted a show. I wouldn't have pissed away that opportunity. I would have learned to read copy smoothly and not rip on the national shows while doing it. There is no glory to an update guy. But hell, I'd read scores, give pitching matchups, and play sound bites for a living. I'll bet that pays at least 50 grand. It's really a no pressure job if you can do a straight read without screwing up. Offman has done it for his whole career minus 2 years of being a bad baseball reporter. Offman, with all of his raises through the years, probrally clears 80 grand for that mindless work. Not bad. Plus he's been around so long they give him a weekend show. |

I wouldn’t be surprised if Goff has or does post here, but I would be very surprised if he were coming here to make comments like that. I don’t think it’s him. He’s got more sense than that I’d hope. |
