I was in the Quad Cities for a family function and golfed on Friday with ex-producer Rory Spears. He's doing an independent show on 1530 AM for Illinois Golf (9-10 AM on Saturdays) and doing the wire reporting for PGA events in the Midwest. Nice enough guy who didn't have much bad things to say about the Score though one could tell he wasn't thrilled with them either.

Well, I did get some info. Scanning my mental notes:

- He rolled his eyes when I mentioned Murphy so that was a clue he didn't want to talk about him.
- He was there in the Ron Gleason days and made a comment how if you weren't Jewish you didn't get anywhere
- How the producers like him had to cover up for Greenberg not really knowing what he was talking about.
- He did like Terry Boers and missed the HFC days
- He doesn't miss 670 AM at all.

I'll have to go over my mental notes if there was anything else to talk about.

How it was to difficult to show up for work covering a Cubs game, so he lost his gig.

How North, Jiggs, Shaer, Boers, Swieca, Memelo, Van Lier, Buffone, Hood, Murphy are all Jewish.

I'll be honest and don't know the whole story behind him and his departure. He was a nice enough guy to golf 18 holes with. The Jewish comment was in reference to Greenberg, Bernstein.....at least that my inference.

He is a nice guy.

And that's how he lost his gig. Not showing up for work.

And if Rory was more interesting, he would have found work for MVP long ago.
