Sounds like someone is ticked off about a new pay scale for those picking up host shifts. Did I miss something? Goff felt compelled to bring a little of this out in the open. With all of the talk about his new "shift", why would he now pick the time to talk about random hosting shifts? |

LoHo sounded like a 12yr old cheerleader. Bad. |

I usually like Jason when he jumps on with B&B or fills in for Mac/Meat. Maybe I was just tired because I am not usually driving home from work at such a late hour. It just sounded really bad to me. It took 30 minutes to say that he wanted to take calls discussing how he handles his on-air sports talk. Plus LoHo jumped in after every sentence to say "Good point Jason" "Yeah, that's right" "Dont change man. Dont change" The only interesting part of it was the story he told about the program director sitting him down and asking him why someone should care what he thinks. That sounds like a really good person to have looking out for you. I dont think enough radio guys think about that and Jason took it and ran with it to become the NBA guy. Cool story IMO. But that was only 3 minutes of an otherwise brutal segment. |

I was a little surprised that Jason would even mention CBS Radio's new pay scale for part-time hosts which he doesn't quite agree with at the end of his show last night. I have read a great deal of talk on this message board about Goff possibly being the rumored replacement for Spiegs on "The Danny Mac Show" during the week. I got the impression that contrary to all the rumors, it's far from a slam dunk that Goff's even in consideration to become Mac's new co-host. |

Going to guess "FILL IN" rate was pretty good and if you exceed "X" hours you are no longer a "FILL IN" guy and your rate declines? It is like that in a number of businesses. Temps get paid a lot more per hour, but at some point the temp becomes permanent. |

Goff often says he's held down by "The man". In this case it's true. It's a corporate genious trick that probably saves the company hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, if not more, when you consider all of their radio stations across the country. It comes down from NY so the employees have nobody to bitch to at their local stations. Mitch says "Nothing I can do, came from NY." What are they gonna do? Call Les Moonvest? Then it's a catch 22. Do they keep their principle and refuse a $50 dollar shift when they were once getting $100 or do they do it cuz they need to be out there to keep up their exposure. Veteran backups like drink and Goff can say no but then some other producer takes the $50 happily to get his shine. I wonder if this is now gonna end the 10-12 shift and they'll just have Les go longer cuz he is contracted and just give him a few more bucks. What it does show you is that these late night and weekend radio shifts for all of their stations mean nothing to CBS if they're cutting they part time pay which was already low. No value to them anyway so it doesn't matter who's taking the shift. |
