Q101 hasn't been good for a decade.

I remember making mix tapes for junior high gf's with Q101. Sad to see as it's the only place to find 'alternative' music in the city. Hopefully another station changes format and picks up the slack with some of the festivals that the station sponsored.

They probably should have stopped playing 3 Nirvana songs an hour about 10 years ago....

But what will become of WKRP in Cincinatti?

I guess it doesn't really matter but that kinda sucks. I used to listen to that station all the time growing up, and the Twisted shows were always pretty enjoyable.

That sucks. Nostalgic feelings for the 90's even though it sucked recently

I read that The Loop will be going 80's as part of this, too.

Randy Michaels (former Trib CEO) is the head of the company that bought the stations.

I'm actually a little pissed because Q101 was about the only station that I didn't get commercials on when I run out to get lunch.

Any station that has a drive time show called Sherman and Tingle had to see this one coming

Oddly enough, I read the blog post by SHARK's buddy Larz this morning. He indicated that Sherman and Tingle may be the one show spared from the ax.

Will it be real news like Fox or fake news like everyone else?

Well that show is well known for their hard hitting news journalism so I guess that makes sense

So this means Eric and Kathy and Whip are going to play more NIN and Linkin Park?

Jamboree too

Saw Weezer, Violent Femmes, and Korn close a Twisted show. Good stuff.

The LOOP recently changed its slogan to "Chicago's CLASSIC Rock Station", SJ, although they still play a lot of the harder edge rock from the '80s.

SHARK, you got scooped. Dont come in here pretending like you have any new or relevant info. Illini beat you and Boyd too.

Upon hearing Joe Bartosch's last scoreboard update today, I'd like to throw his hat into the ring as someone to go to the new Q101. I am very much looking forward to the day that he ends an update with the phrase "98 Off to another station degrees"

The fact that anyone listens to anything other than WSCR or WMVP is blasphemy.

That's a bummer, even though Q101 wasn't really the station it used to be anymore. I remember in the 90's when I used to work at 6AM I used to stay up all night listening to Zoltar's industrial show that was on from like 1AM to 5AM or something. Then they started playing Metallica and it was over. I'd love a radio station like XM's 1st Wave.

I hope what Feder says about the Loop staying the same is on target (although c'mon guys. There are more than 25 songs in existence.) Sad to see Q101 go away. It was the last place other than WILL Rock to hear rock music that wasn't the usual overplayed stuff.

and BR, this is a music thread. So go read the last issue (or maybe the one previous) of Rolling Stone. Then revise your statement.

One of the funniest things on that show ever when he hit the Food Fight button and this came on

Rumors are going around that this Thursday will be Q101's last day. People are being let go, but no official announcements yet.

It's fact.

Multiple FB posts from those in the know (read: people that actually work there) all indicating that Thursday is the last day.
