he has been doing this garbage for months and he still uses the same opening about "you will be the hit at the water cooler......."

talks about how the gays have a flag and the perils of marriage that gay guys now have to deal with

coke raising prices and how 12oz bottle used to be 12 cents. mikey we know you r old ok.

talks about daley's pension and how he deserves it. daley contributed $390,000 over 40 years and will get it back in 2 years. yeah mikey we know you r a union thug.

mikey touts michelle bachman for president, she is refreshing

daniel craig marries racheal weiz. no movie better than bond movies especially back in the 60's

russell crowe in town eating out

and then he does 30 seconds of sports and useless drivel. says its a dead time in sports.

so i will now go be the hit at my water cooler as i discuss this great info that mikey has so graciously given me.

Are you saying that he shouldn't be able to get the portion of his pension THAT HE CONTRIBUTED as quickly as possible?

I'm pretty sure that isn't how pensions are supposed to work. That's why the state is bankrupt.

i am saying that states and cities can't afford to pay out pensions when the workers contribute so little. in daley's case, if he lives another 10 years he will have collected 2.2 million and only put in $385,000. these workers need to be on 401k like everyone else.

Yep..thats it, its all the public employees fault. They bailed out Wall Street, gave golden parachutes to CEOs that bankrupted companies, and gave tax breaks to coroporations. Its funny, when the economy is in the toliet, everyone loves hurling mud at teachers, cops, firefighters, and other public employees. But, when the economy is booming, these jobs are hard to fill.

Are you equating Daley with a ditch digger or a teacher?

No, I am not. But, by lumping all pensions into one category you are lumping hardworking people into the category of Daley. My point is that for every Richie Daley recieving a huge pension, there are lots of people living on a modest pension. Does this system need an overhaul...yes. But, eliminating them all together is not fair to the workers.

Sell that somewhere else. Why does a public employee think they have a right to a pension? Nearly all private companies have done away with that. Join the rest of the working world and get a 401k.

hank scorpio nailed it. public employees don't have a god given right to a pension. i will cut slack to cops and firefighters because they put their lives on the line but politicians, cta, teachers, should have 401k with a match by the govt. this eliminates all the bullshit of getting salary's bumped by unused vacation days and retiring at 50 then taking another city job.

Ohh okay. So because Cops and Firefighters "put thier life on the line" they deserve a pension but a teacher does not. What about a Social Worker that works for DCFS, they put their lives on the line? What about a teacher that works in a violent neighborhood? They put their lives on the line as well. Shit, students sometimes shoot their teachers, so I guess when you look at the qualifier (life risking) for deserving a pension than teachers deserve it too.

Blaming the economic recession on "public workers" "unions" "teachers" is frankly disgusting. The fact that so many fall for it is depressing. Many private companies offer pensions, stock options or other things to aid people in retirement. A public sector deserves a pension just as much as anyone else.

Wall Street, CEOs, people that set economic policies, politicians are the cause of recession. Not your kids teacher or the local librarian.

a CEO, a tea party member, and a union worker are all sitting at a table when a plate with a dozen cookies arrives. Before anyone else can make a move, the CEO reaches out to rake in eleven of the cookies. When the other two look at him in surprise, the CEO locks eyes with the tea party member. "You better watch him," the executive says with a nod toward the union worker. "He wants a piece of your cookie."

Mike North is an asshole, the shit he spews shows how fucking dumb he is. People like him are the reason that wedge issue bible thumping assholes (they come in many forms) keep getting re-elected. Then spend public money trying to somehow ban abortion or block gay marriage even they are elected to a county level position.

let me explain the difference between public and private employees. private employers can and do offer pensions and you know what happens when business goes bad, the pensions and other benefits go down or away. i am not saying public employees don't deserve retirement benefits, they should get 401k with a match. they don't deserve a defined pension. nearly every state is in the red because of guaranteed pensions and Illinois even gives no cost health insurance on top of that. and it is getting worse. see their has been a nice game over the past ten-twenty years of politicians promising higher pensions, salary increases, health benefits for public unions in exchange for voting them in. and then when they don't pay into the system, they borrow money from THE TAXPAYERS, or RAISE TAXES, or don't pay the state's other bills. now public employees want the taxpayers to give even more money so they can retire at 50 or 55, collect 85% of their last yr salary with 3% raises EVERY YEAR, free health insurance, and then go get another job on top of it, denying a person that needs a job so they can make money on top of their fat pension. if you can't see that states and cities can not sustain this system then you are a moron or a public employee. again, put everyone on a 401k with a matching funds.

I think people who are set to receive pensions should have to wait until 65 to start collecting on them.
Why should productive members of society to be allowed to retire in the prime of their lives?
The waiting period, which would mirror Social Security, would solve most of the budget problems caused by pensions.
Retiring after 20 or 30 years of work is getting more costly every year because life expectancy gets longer and longer.
Also, pensioneers can get new jobs without penalty, unlike those who collect Social Security, who are limited to the amount of additional money they can earn.
