How's life in Tampa?
Life is good here at 620 WDAE in Tampa.
Lots of work, lots of new things, new ideas, new people, new area, new teams. A lot of adjusting, but the job is nice.
I have an office which is really unusual, and my own CPU....so no more fighting for a computer at work.
The worst part = no public transportation. Getting a second car when you don't have the money to afford one sucks.
The best part = NO! not the weather. The scenery (if you catch my drift)
We have a strong heritage lineup down here with solid people that have been here for years. Like anything though, nothing is perfect. We have our flaws and that's what I am attempting to fix.
As far as getting back on the air....no show announcement yet. Then again I wouldn't expect a Chicagoan to give a damn about Rays stadium talk. I have done some updates the last couple of weeks to shake off the dust, but I'm not planning on hitting the air anytime soon as far as a show. My time (as of now) is devoted to making this station the absolute best it can be behind the scenes.
I've heard some things about back home. It's amazing how quickly things seem to change when you leave. I say good luck to those trying to better their careers as a collective, fight the good fight!
I'm pissed off about Q101....but not shocked it happened. There hasn't been anything that radio can grasp onto in that genre of music in the past decade anyway. As much as rock fans hate the rip/hop subgenre (Limp/Korn/etc..)....it saved rock music for a good 6-8 year period.
I'm wearing collared shirts and nice jeans now to work over the t-shirts and shorts. Sandals are my choice of footwear now at all hours outside of work hours.
It's been a real experience for me, but I do miss watching my White Sox every day and talking shit with M&H every morning.
I'm around...always will be.
