Wait... Hungry Like the Bruce Wolf had a mid-day radio show? Huh? You're shitting me! I thought that the guy niched his way out of the popular/populist chicago media scene and he was always going to be floating around taking odd gigs at the behest of his small dedicated fanbase running around and contacting radio stations like "HIRE BRUCE WOLF! HIS INTELLIGENCE AND WIT ARE SO ADVANCED THAT HE HAS TO BE ON IN CHICAGO!!!" and now he's gone already?!?! wow. i think you can sum him up with that "bit" he pulled whilst fill-in-hosting mornings with zach zaidman on Der Schnorr. at the time it sure sounded real, like bruce was going all out FULL MEATBALL (and ask robert downey junior, you never go full meatball) on a caller, which turned out to be a station "thing" for the day... and then later he comes on B&B and claims that the whole thing was a work, and that he was brilliantly satirizing sports talk radio and etc.... no matter what happened, whether bruce was caught in a fit of needing-to-douche and he just let it rip... or whether he was some venerable "performance artist" who did the bit but only could admit it hours, if not a day or two later as opposed to indicating something right after it happened-- he came off like a giant smarmy douchebag asshole taint-face no matter what. methinks that he went full meatball and decided to play the "i'm a brilliant troll" card, which isn't going to work with the kind of people listening to der schnorr. i think if he had just stuck to his guns that he went full meatball he would have ended up with more respect, if not outright being-liked, from der schnorr's audience. but yeah, no matter what bruce did in that situation, either way he ended up fucked.... when he was on b&b acting so smug and smarmy and over-our-heads talking about that incident, that epitomizes why i don't think the guy will ever catch on for a "bigtime" gig here in chicago ever again. btw, has bruce wolf ever posted here? i know he's a regular mainstay on feder's blogs going back for years (and occasionally you'll even see a SHARK) |

Sini, First off, yes,I read your entire post. I think you hit the proverbial nail right on the head. I'm one of those who thought Wolf was very funny over the years BUT I could see how his "I'm too clever for the room" 'tude would wear very thin after awhile. |

The guy is way too smart for a mass audience. Greek mythological references in sports talk radio only goes so far and I can assure you "southside bob", that guy who calls Mully and Hanley" every morning, has no clue what Wolf is talking about. |

Intellectualizing Monday Night Football = Yes! Hell Yes! </hawk> |

I thought Jimmy's now doing mornings with Kevin Matthews at a classic rocker owned by the parent company of WLS-AM & FM, Citadel Broadcasting, in Grand Rapids, MI. |
