Who do you get the most from? We have ZZ, Holmes, Doug, OB, Bowen, Hub, Hampton, and Florio.

Matt Bowen sounds a lot like Doug Buffone. I think we forgot about NFL Network's Michael Lombardi and Trib guys Dan Pompei & Brad Biggs, all three of whom are "Mully & Hanley" regulars.

On a national level, the George Stephanopoulos-looking Mike Florio from NBC Sports/ProFootballTalk.com knows his stuff at 10a Wednesdays on the "McNeil/Spiegel" radio program. I also enjoyed the first of many hits "Boers & Bernstein" had with the Trib's Matt Bowen, 5p Mondays after a Bear game and I actually like what Pro Football Weekly/Westwood One/The SCORE's own Hub Arkush brings to the table Tuesdays & Wednesdays on that same show with Terry & Dan B.

Most are OK from time to time. Buffone gives me an understanding of the game from a ground level perspective. His experience is old, but still relevant.

Hub understands a player's potential and market value, but almost nothing about the actual game being played out there by actual teams. Never count on Hub for any kind of prediction. It will be based way more on something like the height or speed of a receiver, than on something important, like whether he can actually play the game. But he's OK because he is talking football, which I like to hear from nearly anybody.

Lawrence is an OK mix of reporting and opinion. Also an easy listen, I like him. Zach is a pure reporter, if lockerroom trivia is what you like most about football, Zach is your guy.

O'Bradovitch and Hampton are pretty close to being pure idiots. O'Bradovich, if the Bears lose, yells really loudly that they would play better if somebody would just go into the lockerroom and, well, yell really loudly at them. When they win, he's self-congratulatory, and will tell you the Bears won because they are finally doing what he said they should do.

Hampton is an obnoxious example of the bitter former pro. He can not get past the money the modern athlete makes. He cannot get past the lighter workouts they face. He cannot get past some anger he seems to have at Bears management in general. Why is he on at all, especially in a pregame time slot. He's not talking about the game. For some unknown reason he's talking mostly about Jerry Angelo's draft selections and Lovie Smith's demeanor. And every time he tries to use a three syllable word he misuses it in some humiliating way.

Get me a Marv Levy! Though I do appreciate the Billick appearances.

Zaidman because he provide news update. He get beat up becaue he' not negative and is a positive guy, sort of the opposite of most hosts.

Holmes is too obsessed with playing tapes. I think he honestly thinks it's a great supplement to his reports, but, he doesn't realize that most of the coach/player tapes are very high level, and don't offer much.

Doug/OB are great after a Bears loss.

Bowen is very good.

Hub is an arrogant bastard. I do respect his NFL knowledge, but he's far from perfect in his analysis.

Florio is fine, touches on most of the relevent news around the league.

Wrong

Zaidman gets beat up because when things are going bad, we never actually find out news. He's like the fucking Iraqui Propaganda Minister.

He gets beat up when he comes off as too positive for whatever negative host is listening to him.

I do get a chuckle when ZZ starts spouting the Bears talking points.

How much can the Bears really be paying him to buy him off like that?
