With the Chicago Sun Times laying off/firing writers left and right the Sun Times will be out of writers and be history soon. Pretty soon Daffy Duck will get his wish of promoting illiteracy. Check out the first minute of this video with Daffy talking about illiteracy.

i was always a sun times guy until about a year ago, the paper was just getting too lean and the sports section sucked .. i think you are right and the sun times will go under soon ... if the trib printed all their copies like a book to open and read in a small area instead of huge sections that only a white collar worker with a desk can spread around the suntimes would be belly up already.,

Well, it's a shame. Folks like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal ask for subscriptions for their web sites.

You can argue that newspapers might not have been giving away their content all these years; I wonder how many of us get our news from non-newspaper sources to begin with.

IMO the market is, how do I get news in an attractive form that's readable on my droid/iphone, kindle et al?

[Edit] Since moving to NYC, been getting no newspapers. This after a 30 year habit. Frankly, its got to be in a format I can read while commuting. Metra is great for this; I used to bring a Trib in the morning for the ride in, then read someone's discarded Sun-Times on the way back. ST I think made a big mistake when they went to mornings.

i prefer the daily news in print, just not enough of a market anymore for two papers in the city..the strong will survive the weaker one folds..just think of the positives joe cowley will be removed from the scene

Cowley is clearly preparing to be Ozzie Guillen's full-time biographer/publicist/housesitter. He knows the ship be sinkin', and this fact has made for some of the most loathsome sportswriting in Chicago history.
