yeah, not joking

Dear people who might like me,

As you may have heard, we're doing a little TV show out of the NBC Tower In Chicago. It's called "Brandmeier".

(Apparently "Johnny B's Jamboree" was taken.)

It's just me playing with the news weekly. Or as TV Listings describes it, "'Brandmeier' is an entertaining look at the news with Chicago personality John Brandmeier as he talks to real people, newsmakers and celebrities."

It's a work in progress for all involved, but I'm thrilled to have the opportunity. (Special Thanks to Larry Wert and Matt Piacente at NBC for that.)

We've got a great local crew: Frank the Bug, Nicky Cigars, Fat Tony, Skinny Pete, Lead Pipe Louie, The Beak, The Snake, The Owl and Louie Ha Ha - and last but not least, our director Joey Half Ball.

Also joining me in producing - co-creator of the Daily Show, Emmy and Peabody award-winning Madeleine Smithberg and Sarah North.

Hey Johnny that sounds great! said the audience, but where will we find you on the TV?

The show will run Friday night/Saturday morning at 1:05am on NBC5 with repeats on Friday at 7:00pm, 10:00pm and 12 midnight on NBC Chicago Nonstop. Chicago Nonstop is Digital Channel 5.2; Comcast Channel 341; WOW Channel 130 and RCN Channel 50.

The show runs weekly until December -- or until they pull the plug.(Hey - as we now know anything can happen.)

*** Programming note: We are not taping this week because the NBC5 crew is jammed with the marathon coverage. So if you missed the premiere, you can see it this week. Hopefully you too will become a Chuck Testa fan. (Watch, it will make sense.)

Thanks for your attention. Ladies and gentlemen... start your DVRs!

He should really get Bonaduce to move back from Philly.

And I would still not listen!

Who else watched Brandmeier's last show on channel 5, the one that aired Sunday nights after Sports Sunday back in 2008, 2009? Man, when you had Larry and Silvy creepin' on Paula Faris followed by Brandmeier interviewing eight-year-old blues singers in front of a green screen, with Walter E. Smithe doing the Flea Market Montgomery parody during commercial breaks, MAN, that was just a fuckin' smorgasbord of categorically absurd television. Good times.

Brandmeier would be great in a Wild Chicago type of show format.

He's already tried this type of show with Johnny on the Loose.

Unlike many of the other DJs, I think Brandmeier has made more than enough to just sit back and enjoy his life.

I will reserve judgement 'til I view. I do remember the show from back in '08. Didn't he have one from back in the 90's as well? I remember both of those being somewhat entertaining, mostly because he has the energy and presence that it takes to be an entertainer. He is the equivalent of Jim Miller or Erik Kramer (not broadcast Kramer) though, prittay....prittay....prittay good.

no, brandmeier was never national or well known like the 85 bears.. id say more like that amusement park on belmont n western that was kinda popular in the city, but me and most people under 32 never witnessed it.
