oh my. Johny B ??? Whats up?

http://news.google.com/news/section?pz=1&cf=all&geo=detect_metro_area&ict=ln

Greg Jarrett is out and Jonathon Brandmeier is in as morning man at WGN-AM 720.

The announcement Friday ends Jarrett's run at the Tribune Co.-owned station after two years. It also marks the return of "Johnny B," longtime morning man at "The Loop" WLUP-FM 97.9, after two years on the radio sidelines.

"Jonathon Brandmeier is a Chicago superstar and we're thrilled to have him on the air, at the station where he belongs," said Tom Langmyer, WGN Radio's vice president and general manager.

"Johnny's high-energy humor and unique Chicago experience make him an exceptional fit as 'The Voice of Chicago' evolves with another generation of listeners," he added.

Brandmeier is scheduled to start Friday, Dec. 9 in the 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. slot, Langmyer said.

It's quite a coup for 720 WGN Radio landing the one & only Jonathon Brandmeier for morning drive. As a Brandmeier fan dating back to when he simulcasted his "Showgram" in the late '80s on both the old AM & FM LOOP under different management, I'll certainly be tuning in.

How is it a coup for WGN? Was there a bidding war for a washed up radio guy whose best years were 20 years ago?

I probably used the wrong word, TP. I think it's safe to say Greg Jarrett didn't draw listeners the way Bob Collins did before his untimely death.

Moment of silence please for Bob...Thank you.

Or since.

The morning host on WGN is mostly just a traffic cop, saying the call letters and time between sports, traffic, news, weather and farm reports, and obligitory interviews (e.g. the mayor, the governor, Theo, etc.) I think it'd be hard to get anything really entertaining going.

Can't wait to hear Johnny B. and Paul Green yucking it up.

I'm old. I'll listen.

Doc said He's old and he will listen

You said im getting old myself and ill listen

Saying speak for yourself usually indicates your disagreeing.

You and Doc Agree.

Dr. Ken said he'd listen. You said speak for yourself, and then proceeded to agree with him.

"Speak for yourself" is generally used when disagreeing with someone.

EDIT: What rpb said.

Yea, that's kind of how life works. Young guys rail against the establishment, then they approach middle age, have kids, start making some money, & become what they railed against.
Hell, I was once a young liberal anti-establishment guy myself!

This is a great move for WGN Radio. Greg Jarrett was awful. Johnny B will be good for the station, When Steve Dahl takes over mid days for John Williams, the re-org will be complete.

If Dahl starts talking to Thomas Jefferson, I'm just going to go ahead and kill myself.

She probably stopped calling when Kathy and Judy were publicly executed.

When Dahl becomes the special guest, we will need a special name for this crew. Kevin Mathews doing anything for them? Serious, is Kev alive, I know he had some issues?
