Why isn't there some big announcement? Is Adamle gonna be the full time anchor? Did Larry lose out? If so, what went wrong? Was CSFMB responsible for it going bad? Did the NBC 5 people read the board and decide against it?

Doc, what's the latest? You had Larry leaving the Score and joing NBC 5 full time a couple of months ago. Then you said there were complications. Where do we stand now?

She will be hard to replace.

(Apologies to Doug. I thought that guy in the pic was familiar. I was thinking some random station guy or something.)

Laurence Holmes had some face time Saturday night. Right after he & ex-ABC7 weekend sports anchor Jeff Blanzy, subbing for Zach Zaidman, called the DePaul/Chicago State game at Allstate Arena on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com, Holmes did the 5 & 10p sportscasts on NBC5's Saturday night news. It's believed that Holmes will have more opportunities to anchor sports on the NBC Universal-owned outlet with Paula on her way out.

As far as I know, Mike Adamle, whose best days are clearly in the scrapbook, has been the #1 guy on WMAQ since the death this past spring of Daryl Hawks. That being said, I'm not sure what V.P./General Manager Larry Wert, Station Manager Frank Whittaker & bosses in the newsroom plan to do. Keep in mind that NBC5 might simply utilize the folks at Comcast SportsNet when it comes to sports coverage. They are now part of the NBC Sports Group.

I don't know about him being the #1 guy, but I'm pretty sure he's a #2.

Just saying. There needs to be some resolution to this story. Doc owes it to the board. The spot is officially vacant now. You'd think NBC 5 would have their decision and announce it. Feder has nothing in his Chicagonow column. Larz's board has nothing. This is Chicago. Somebody should be reporting on it. I know it's not the most important thing, but people have an interest. With all the other crappy blogs and dumb internet reporting out there, you'd think somebody would investigate this one.

Maybe it was the same guy who scouted him as a catcher?

I think Channel 5 needs Dan Hampton's hillbilly colloquisms on a nightly basis.

SJ, I'm reasonably sure about this one.

I'm an angry, white, gun owning, deer shooting hillbilly with a balck president!! How the hell do you think I am!!!

Actually, I'm doing well thanks for asking. I'm kickin ass at school, top of my class so far, if I might brag about that for a moment. Just told that my department at my current employer will be supporting the next generation of VoIP product, although I intend to quit by then. My boss told me Friday he needs me so I'll really enjoy resigning in a year or so.

I'm sure there was more than one.

I mentioned in an earlier post ex-ABC7 weekend sports anchor Jeff Blanzy worked the DePaul/Chicago State game Saturday with LoHo. If NBC5 decides not to utilize Comcast SportsNet for their sportscasts, Blanzy's not doing anything as far as I know...I know that Blanzy's contract wasn't renewed, which explains why the lovechild of the WWE's John Bradshaw Layfield & Ryan Seacrest, Rafer Weigel, is doing weekend sports on ABC7 these days.

Cool. So he's totally done with the Score and gonna do NBC 5 full time? See everybody, you just have to ask. Does Goff replace him or is that yet to be determined?

I'd be cool with Goff taking over the nighttime SCORE, guys. I'm not so sure that will happen.

If it's nights and solo, I'd rather Drinky get it over Goff. Or better yet, punt Les and give Drinky that slot, it'd get weird quick.

The problem is that he will want to shoot them after he makes them.

With Laurence & Zach Zaidman on DePaul duty tonight, calling The SCORE's coverage of their road game at Northern Illinois at 7:45p, let the speculation resume. Jason Goff is listed on 670thescore.com as the bridge builder to DePaul/NIU hoops at 6p this eve. Also, LoHo is pre-empted again tomorrow night for the train wreck that is "Bears All Access" & Westwood One's coverage of "Thursday Night Football". Ian Eagle, Trent Green & Laura Okmin paint the picture for Jaguars/Falcons in Atlanta at 7p tomorrow.

Who sucks? Laura Okmin? The blonde who worked the sidelines of yesterday's "NFL on FOX" game with the Seahawks & Bears, Jaime Maggio? Laurence? Be specific...

This much I think is safe to say. Laurence is going to get a lot more face time, but how much more NBC5 work he'll get is anyone's guess.
