he cannot keep himself from repeating past mistakes with the politics thing

Friday before the super bowl should be easy programming full of sports...the guy from ceasar's sports book...john dewaan with his 15 fullproof points for who wins...an old bear to talk about 85...a columnist from ny and ne...take some calls and go home.

I guess I could understand trying it but is he really into politics and current events? It doesn't seem like something that would be important to him.

He thinks he knows everything he needs to know.

I wasnt a listener to the MNMS but If he was just doing the everyman's take on politics, I could see that working.

Actually, he was sort of doing the "everyman" take on politics. The fact that he didn't have an in-depth understanding of the issues was made obvious on a daily basis. That's OK when you're sitting around the bar with your like-minded buddies but it doesn't draw in political junkies.

hey larz......the big reunion thing between dontfademe/webio/monsters and money moron and get jiggsy with it was a colossal failure twice. the appeal these two once had twenty yrs ago is long gone.

I would listen to North & Murph every day of the week over Loho & Zach.

you fit their profile: meatball, old, still use the word "broad" or "dame", think connie francis is the tits, have bad teeth, wear affliction t-shirts one size too small for you, go to vegas at least 4 times a yr, when in vegas you wear an expensive leather jacket that advertises a casino on it, when at the craps table you r loud and obnoxious especially when winning, smoke cigars and blow smoke all over to bother as many non-smokers as possible, you would still smoke even if you developed lung cancer, how many did i get right?

North saw the writing on the wall at the Score. The big contract days were winding down and he needed to broaden his base in order to present himself to stations with deeper pockets. He thought he would go the way of Rush and simply take the most right wing stance on any topic so that he could draw the people who would both love him and hate to listen. What his show ended up doing was not drawing in political radio listeners to the Score AND driving the loyal sports listeners away.

Look at the ratings. Murph and Fred built up a solid listenership in the mornings (although I didn't particularly like the show). North came along with his circus of fools which allowed ESPN1000 to win the time slot for the first time in its history. North's show had residual damage on subsequent time slots. Listeners flocked back to the Score when Mully and Hanley took over the spot.

There is a pretty strong indication that people were specifically turning away from North and his general topics vision of Score mornings

Maybe when Boers retires, North can take his place. The North and Bernstein show! Light 'em up!
